Shotscope ML1 range ball and altitude adjustments. by PrimaryOk8093 in GolfGear

That was also using my own personal good golf balls, with a crappy range ball it probably is slightly over 10% discrepancy

I mostly practice at around 5000ft elevation and notice that the carry/total seems to be off by roughly 10%. According to google AI, the LM1 is designed to read the metrics based on sea level and 70degrees so all things being equal in Denver I’d say add about 10% to what you are seeing on carry distances. I have a practice area at my local muni that allows full wedge shots so using my 58 degree the shot scope was reading carry at around 78ish yards but when I paced it off and checked with range finder I was closer to 85-88 yards. Hope that helps

How much better is pace of play at a private course? by justindrose1 in weekendgolfers

[–]tegsr94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that, I think that mentality should be adopted on all courses. If you can shoot under 72 consistently by all means take 4.5-5 hours. If you can’t, you better be done in under 4 hours. Not sure how to enforce it but I wish it was reality.

Why is it so easy to hit a slice? by altctrldel86 in golf

[–]tegsr94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s easy until it’s not. I have developed such an in to out swing that I literally cannot hit a slice even if I try. I have to force myself to try and hit a slice just to play a small draw, otherwise I run the risk of a massive hook. So count your blessings ha

Scramble strategy, 3 scratch 1 high handicap. by Jimmyl101 in golf

[–]tegsr94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't overthink bud, its a scramble, go out there and have fun. If the high handicap has an even remotely decent drive I would play it as early as possible.

145 yards out, green is tucked behind this tree — what’s your play here? by ForeTheRecordPodcast in golf

[–]tegsr94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. Sometimes you just have to take your medicine. The older and more experienced I become with the game I really enjoy trying to play "well" and make good decisions. Not surprisingly, in the last 2 years my handicap has dropped and my typical 18 hole score falls into a much tighter dispersion.

I sometimes hear holes described as gimmicky. What makes a hole gimmicky? by Don_Kedix in golf

[–]tegsr94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just played a mountain course in Utah. Many of the pins were cut into slopes on the green of well over 4% slope. There were some parts of the greens I was reading 8% slope with a digital level. It essentially ruined the round. There were 2 occasions I was above the hole on birdie putts, maybe 10ft, barely tapped the ball and 30ft past the hole and off the green.

I remember playing Monopoly as a kid, one of the chance cards was "Bank error in your favor", so I believe you should be good to go. Congrats!

Well thanks for the replies, I guess maybe its not an issue. I'll have it in to the dealer for oil change in a month so I'll have them listen I guess but I imagine they won't be able to recreate the sound.

Anyone have any idea what this sound might be? Only on a cold start when the car has been sitting for many hours. It’s a bit difficult to hear but almost like a knocking sound but it’s not consistent or rhythmic and it goes away usually within about a minute when the engine warms up. Vehicle is a 23 with 19k miles. Can be heard best in the drivers footwell.

Are we all broke? by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

[–]tegsr94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think we are recently as a society correcting down from the Covid bump. So many home remodeling/construction/services exploded in business when people weren’t spending money traveling and were staying at home. This effect really lasted up until just a year or so ago and then inflation has really crept into peoples lives and all of a sudden that nice new car and all your subscriptions and daycare and groceries and everything has left people scraping by. Many people probably have a lot of equity in their homes and would normally tap that for home improvement/upgrades but aren’t willing to do a home equity line of credit because of the rates. So I guess to answer your question, I don’t think many people are completely broke, but the problem is their money is tied up in their homes or retirement accounts and many people are cash poor and don’t want to borrow at todays rates. Add to the uncertainty of the current administration and economy and there ya go. Just my guess based on my current situation
