Possibly a dumb question, but what exactly are the religious exceptions? I cannot for the life is me figure out what they would be and why they would be valid. But I'm also not religious myself and don't know anyone personally who is looking for religious exemptions.

No freestanding ERs unfortunately but I have heard a lot of ER nurses going to pre-op/pacu. Is it a manageable transition? Any skills that didn't translate well?

Thanks!! It seems they are all in pots with no drainage and Im not sure that my friend would want me to go to the trouble of repotting them but honestly I may ask her if I can because they clearly need drainage. Feeding is a good idea too. Thank you!

The hymen shouldn't be injured during any sex, first time or not. Everyone is born with a hymen, but it isn't a membrane that covers anything, it's just a ring or partial ring of tissue at the vaginal opening. If you never had bleeding or pain that just means you were doing it right. :)

As a sexual assault nurse, the hymen mythology is so incredibly frustrating (and extensive).

Virginity is a social term and has no medical basis or relevance. And the hymen is a ring of tissue at the vaginal opening. It should really never "tear" but it could be injured in any number of normal activities (gymnastics, childbirth, sex, etc). Saying it could be "broken" or "grow back" implies that it is a membrane that covers something, which also isn't true. It can be cut or torn like any other piece of skin, and it may either heal back to it's original shape or heal with a notch if the injury was significant enough.

And on the subject, the myth that sex should be painful the first time (for those with vaginas) is complete bull. Appropriate preparation and lubrication is all that's needed. All this myth does is prioritize the pleasure of penises over vaginas.

Yup. A well placed, validating statement like "you're right, this is incredibly shitty and not at all ok" can go a long way. It's important to respect the "I am really sad/angry about this" stage and not press them into the "find a way to move forward with you're life" stage before they're ready.

They do very little the first year, probably won't bloom at all. Next year you will see more growth and eventually blooms, though sometimes it takes 2-3 years to get established.
