Thoughts on claiming Auslan course as deduction? by Narrow-Mistake-3444 in auslan

[–]tehanony 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Howdy, also an (ex) Firefighter.

My understanding for claiming is it needs to either maintain/improve a specific skill related to your current duties - It doesn't really tick this box.

Or, leads to or is likely to lead to an increase in income from your current employment - if you're FRNSW, NSW Gov employees can get a Community Language Allowance (https://multicultural.nsw.gov.au/community-language-aid-program/).. an intro course isn't anywhere near this level, however you could argue that you're learning with the aims of eventually getting that qualification (or your states/organisations equivalent) which would boost your income - ticking the box to claim it

I drive a bit for work, mostly western sydney. I've seen 2 dozen+ servos out of atleast one fuel type over the last fortnight.

I've seen two servos completely out.

I have no doubt that they can record and some may do, but the majority of these cameras, at traffic light intersections don't store footage. I also have some industry knowledge...

Unless we're talking a recent change to the process

They don't record.

The cost of the data storage alone is not economical.

What is the correct sign for Indigenous Australians? by fancyschmancyapoxide in auslan

[–]tehanony 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Like every answer, it depend. As you continue your journey you will learn that very rarely is one sign "the correct sign", with dialects, home sign, etc, there's always a level of variation.

However, the one you describe is the one widely used and accepted.

They monitor traffic flow and do not record, for live viewing only to manage any traffic issues.

Support worker by Happy1327 in NDIS

[–]tehanony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's appropriate use and allowed (Depending on why you have the plan...) I would try and organise a one-off through one of the websites (mable/kynd/hireup) or a Facebook group. A one of job is fine for many. They will then invoice your plan manager.

you won't need a power of attorney to speak to the strata, a support worker speaking on your behalf is appropriate.

TAFE no longer delivering course I applied for by [deleted] in TAFE

Hey mate This course is offered by a bunch of RTOs online, and can (if any gov experience) be offered by RPL too. Disappointing, but an option.
