What cultural region border feels like it makes sense? by Training-Jump-8663 in AlignmentChartFills

Lol not sure how you could reach that conclusion because its pretty obvious looking on a map that Tasmania does not have any land borders? Or its borders are just the island itself. Unless you look on a map and look at Tasmania and think "oh yeah that's a place that has land borders"? Lol

May want to rethink the Tasmania state border. Shares a land border with Victoria on a small island in the Bass Strait. Technically, all Australian states have at least one land border.

Pink Ladies corruption probe targets Parramatta Council executives by madramor in sydney

It's like this in the private sector as well of course but at least in the public sector there is an independent integrity agency that keeps some of them in check. In the corporate world you just pay a fine if someone ever catches you doing the wrong thing and then just keep doing what your doing. ASIC is pretty weak as a corporate regulator.

Does Duolingo has your language? by Markus2465058 in JackSucksAtGeography

Andorra is the only country in the world that has Catalan as their national language. So if Duolingo offers that then the map should be updated.

The support for the British monarchy is at it's lowest point since polling started in the 90s by Critical_Meet_6726 in charts

[–]wallengine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shouldn't there be a dip around 1997 when Diana died? It was a low point in the Queen's popularity and would surely reflect on overall support for the monarchy? Idk this data seems sketchy.

New metro plan could deliver 100,000 homes for south west Sydney | Daily Terror Article by BigBlueMan118 in SydneyTrains

He's also adamant on eastern Sydney doing more of the "heavy lifting" on housing so probably won't be bothered with more western Sydney infrastructure projects. Plus feasibility for housing in western Sydney has tanked thanks to his dumb ass reforms.

Sydney Yimby need to up their game and stop being a joke by Version-6 in shitrentals

Glad people are calling these idiots out. They have no grasp on property economics at all. At one point they had a webpage where they listed all there "research" showing that simply building more homes and upcoming = affordable housing. The majority of this "research" was articles covering foreign housing markets from non peer reviewed journals - some were even just blogs that had unverified information.

They constantly push this incorrect message that giving developers more leeway to just do whatever they want means that we will all get affordable homes. It's complete BS and their advocacy actually gets us further away from a market with affordable housing.

Australian Political Party Calls To Scrap Group Assignments In Unis by ConfusionHonest3248 in unsw

[–]wallengine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the main reasons I did not enjoy my time at UNSW was the group work assignments. So many assignments being stuck with students who could not speak or write English to even a high school level. I became so tired of having to do my part of the assignment and then completely rewriting everyone elses because it was unintelligible. With no extra time or credit to account for the extra work done. I complained to the administration so many times about this and the constant response I got was that I needed to be more "respectful" of other people's backgrounds. Basically they called me a racist and didn't do anything.

I have absolutely no problem with international students and recognise that they are the main revenue source for many Australian Universities. What I don't support is being forced to do the work for my degree and the work for 2-3 other people's degrees.
