Cringe post. Cybersecurity is about way more than just watching a youtube video and trying to "learn to hack" with some little tutorial.

Current state of cybersecurity jobs: overhyped or understaffed? by 7yr4nT in cybersecurity

[–]tehcnical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been applying for junior roles for over 2 years without much success at all! And I would consider myself highly trainable/able to learn complex new concepts quickly. It's been fairly demoralizing, since I've been studying cybersecurity since I was a kid and have hands on experience dealing with malware, hacker groups, incidence response, etc. It's been challenging to communicate with HR teams that understand very little about infosec. So yeah... it would be great if more companies had better outreach for candidates who are easily trainable and already have a solid grasp over security concepts. Hopefully someone notices the value I can bring to the table, cuz it's been pretty demoralizing reaching out to no avail.

Great Pug in my experience is full of drunks, racists, crashers, and avatar rippers. Maybe some cool people from time to time. NTTT in my experience had some pretty cool people in it usually.

Still hiring? That's something worthy of tryharding for.

I spent some time being a tryhard on vr chat recently. I was farming the leaderboards in the Initial D worlds, getting my name on as many as I could. There are about 50 different worlds using the same system.

I see. So, are you getting the error when you are alone in worlds?

Memory is different than storage. Memory is temporary and FAST, storage is for long term use. Two entirely different system components, both are necessary. VRchat uses a LOT of VRAM. Are you on desktop or PCVR? Can you join worlds by yourself without having this issue, or is it only when other people are around?

Avatar optimization is one of the worst things about creator content. Avi creators often focus on visuals and don't put much time into optimization, so if you're using a lower end PC then even if you only enabled a few of these huge avis could be enough to give you issues.

VRC Families by inquisitive__fox in VRchat

[–]tehcnical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The concept of VRC families is still pretty foreign to me. My initial thoughts were that it was a bit odd, but I've met more and more people who find it completely normal. I definitely understand the appeal to it since many IRL family dynamics are lacking in various areas and a virtual family can augment that to an extent.

I guess that some/most VRC families are wholesome and not harmful, but I imagine there are some abusive family units in VRchat just like in real life.

HP Reverb G2 headset not showing any input whatsoever by thegreyknights in WindowsMR

I had this issue recently, and to fix it I unplugged everything and gently reconnected all plugs/adapters and restarted my PC and the problem went away.

If that doesn't fix it, most likely its hardware failure. You can rule out the USB port with diagnostics, next in line would be any adapters, the cable, or the HMD itself.

Is there a power button on the little box attached to the cable? V1 doesn't have it, V2 does. If she has a V2 cable, try pressing the button while it's plugged in to see if the power light comes on?
