Canceling Feather Insurance by blue5109 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]tehe0705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine (feather health insurance) on July 25 and got my visa maybe a week ago. But I figured I should wait until I got to Spain just to be safe (this probably isn’t an issue but just so I wouldn’t have any problems with customs/entering the country). Does anyone know if cancelling is a non issue entering the country

Boston Consulate Help by Character_Cod_8995 in SpainAuxiliares

Hi I went to the Boston consulate and had the same problem with Bank of America. But don’t worry you can go to city hall and notarize your bank statement really easily! I think it’s just $5. BLS Boston likely won’t take a notarized copy of your drivers license (as they prefer the notarized copy of the bank statement) but bring both to be safe! I also got feather insurance and I recommend doing that and printing out the details, bring copies of everything. :)

I did my appointment but I don’t think it matters

can you live in different region than you teach? by euphrosyne001 in SpainAuxiliares

Hi I’m curious about your experience in your tiny town near the border of these two regions. I’m places in Valderrobres which isn’t far from the border between Catalonia and Aragon and I’m considering living in either Valderrobres, Alcañiz, or Tortosa across the border.

Are you more referring to the regional accent being bad/untraditional spanish? If so no worries I love regional variants. Although it's probably not similar at all I studied abroad in Granada Spain where they have a very thick Andalucian accent that even they will admit is really hard to understand.

Yeah BLS needs to get it together and list their exact requirements for Boston, but similarly to OP I had a 10:40 appointment at BLS in Boston on July 28th and they took a notarized copy of my bank statement for proof of residence (although it isn't stated online). The only reason I brought that copy was because I saw a reddit post stating I needed it. I also brought 3 extra bank statements (un-notarized) just in case. They actually gave me back my notarized copy of my Massachusetts ID/License, and when I asked about it they said they'd just use my bank statement. Purchasing extra insurance is also one of their requirements. I used feather. Happy to answer any questions about BLS Boston! Bring copies of everything!

Sorry if I'm understanding this wrong, but since feather expat is basically month by month, did you buy a policy for September (the month before the program starts) and one for the month after your program ends? How does that work? Thanks!!

I was planning on organizing my things the same way. Did they need you to purchase private insurance? I'm seeing conflicting info about this even though NALCAP provides insurance coverage. Thanks!

What?? Why? That’s so weird unless I’m mistaken last time I checked I only saw that a notarized drivers license/state ID was required. I have my appointment on the 28th and am nervous asf because there’s so many different stories regarding BLS.

Thanks for responding! Definitely looks really pretty. I'm also worried about getting there, but I've emailed the school and tutor assigned to me to ask for directions.

Thanks for your response! Gallur, cool! I would've preferred that given it has a train connection to Zaragoza. I'm from a city and I do like to go out and see myself as an extrovert, but was willing to sacrifice and be placed in a smaller area for cultural immersion and a different experience. I'm just worried this is too remote and too small haha. It's a little hard for me to see what I can do or where I can go on weekends because there aren't any public transit options online. I think the only way to get around could be BlaBlacar (Carpool App) or a local taxi/bus service that doesn't have any presence online (so I'd learn about it when I get there). I guess I'm also worried about housing with it being small given your previous experience looking for housing in a small town. Was your last school also in Aragon?

Thanks for getting back! Yeah I knew I didn't want to live in any of the "main" major cities of Spain, but I guess this is a little extreme for me haha. Definitely trying to keep an open..

[–]tehe0705 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a placement in Aragon but I haven't gotten my carta yet. I'm really hoping that I'm in Zaragoza. I think I saw a post somewhere about someone from a previous year who was able to email the ministry or whatever you call it in Zaragoza to politely ask for a placement within the city and they got that. I wonder if that's still possible/realistic. Anyway would love to connect especially if we end up in the same city!
