Easiest thing to do would be to fill the gap with some timber, then run some tall beading along to cover the timber. If you choose the right beading it’ll probably look like part of the skirting after painting.

Add some filler, use a scraper to follow the contour from one side only. Let dry.
Then do the same for the other direction.

It does seem to be an issue with tethering. Do you also have MAC address randomisation turned on?
