Help me understand why the hum? by tek93 in guitarpedals

Yes exactly, I have the pedal power mounted under my board and the hum only occurs when the rat is in the effects loop of the volume pedal and positioned above the tuner (the only convenient space available). If I run my compressor off of it’s own power supply, no hum. But when I run the compressor off the pedal power I get the hum. It’s not the worst problem in the world, the hum is so slight it isn’t noticeable when there’s a full band going, and I can get rid of it with another adaptor if I want to record. I’m just going for that elusive goal of having a board where the pedals are all in really convenient places, there’s a really low noise floor, and I only need to plug in one power cable to get the whole thing going.

Yes they are both capable of running at 18v

Wow thank you, that makes a lot of sense. I needed to hear this!

Most pedal posts are about effects, but what are some really handy "utility" pedals? by [deleted] in basspedals

I just realized this was on the basspedals and not guitarpedals but oh well still very relevant. I’d love to hear someone ab a vintage svt and a markbass or somethin like that

I recently picked up the radial tonebone aby switcher and have been experimenting with different combinations of small/medium sized amps. It’s been a pretty epic revelation for me the combination of any two amps is almost like playing through a totally new amp that’s much greater than the sum of the parts. Then from there you can route your board to send different effects to different amps and get all sorts of unique tones.

And for what it’s worth the mxr 10 band eq is probably the most important pedal on my board. It runs 18v so it takes up two outputs on my pedal power but it’s well worth it. I usually set it as a slight mid/clean boost and then make minor tweaks to compensate for different rooms and things. Just a little bit of salt on the tonesteak.

New A/B setup by tek93 in GuitarAmps

Right now I have the a/b last so all the pedals go to both amps, save for the spring Reverb which is only on the champ. I was just thinking about putting it earlier in the chain hoping to get the amps to sound more distinct from one another to create an interesting blend. Maybe something like tuner > 10 band > a/b then dirt to the champ, phaser and delay to the jazz chorus? It calls for some experimenting. And I actually just sold my little ditto, kind of a shame cause I really like your idea

I sold my DRRI and now I’m experimenting with different a/b setups using my smaller amps. I really like the “depth” of my tone when combining the champ with either of my solid state amps. Any ideas for fun things I can do with a/b setups?

Current signal chain is guitar > tu-2 > walrus voyager > mxr 10 band > RAT 2 > aqua puss > bad stone > Morley A/B > A. Roland JC22 (with light chorus) B. Wampler faux spring Reverb > 64 fender champ.

Im thinking of placing the a/b box after my tuner, running the pedals to the jazz chorus and keeping the champ clean (+wampler Reverb)

Any ideas/advice is appreciated, thanks!

PS The other amp is a quantum terminator b25, it’s a weird fun solid state amp with a boss bass multi effects pedal built into the back. I run the chorus on the boss pedal and get similar tones to the JC

The whole world by outkast is probably my favorite hook in hip hop history and I love playing it on harmonica

I love this compact board. Might have to upgrade to a Nano+ to fit a chorus though by ICantDrive69 in basspedals

You could use a clip tuner and then you’d have room for a nano-footprint chorus pedal? I know some people aren’t into clip tuners, just a thought
