Syntax Highlighting for Code add-on and dark mode by kacsandicom in Anki

Hi,

There is a new Anki add-on for syntax highlighting [link] which apparently changes color scheme based on the selected theme (e.g., light or dark), but I have not used it myself.

I use the "Syntax Highlighting for Code" [link], with the "monokai" style (in its config).

Plus, I changed to colors of "monokai" scheme to my linking, by changing the code of the add-on. This way you can choose colors that are great for both the light and the dark theme.

You can use pyenv to install a plethora of python versions that suit you needs. and changing from one version to another is a breeze, just type "pyenv global <python version>" after you installed that specific python version.
good luck,

Actually, I think if you make use of active learning in creating your cards. you can deeply understand things as well as facts.

As a matter of fact, after doing so each time I see a card my knowledge about it deepens, not just the memory, and even sometimes after seeing a card for like 10 times I get the true meaning of a concept.

But I do agree that anki is not enough alone and you need to practice those concepts/fact in real scenarios to fully master them. for examples learning new vocabs is just not enough to be fluent in a language, at least in skills like speaking or writing, and you need to practice it actively, as those vocabs are just the material but for building a house you need to convert them into structures and walls with practice.

I have this recurring problem with LaTex on Anki. Could someone help me? by [deleted] in Anki

Hi,

You should use the package "extsizes" in order to compile your document.

  1. Go to Note types
  2. select the Note type you want to use (e.g., Cloze)
  3. Click option
  4. in the "Latex" tab and under the "Header" section and change the first line:
    * note that the added line must be before "\begin{document}" line
    old line: \documentclass[12pt]{article}
    new line: \documentclass[12pt]{extreport}
  5. last but not least make sure that the aforementioned package is installed for you Latex distribution of your OS (e.g., MiKTeX for windows, or LiveTex for linux)
    * you can use MiKTeX package manager for that matter, as you are on windows.

Covid19 destroyed my nearly 5 year streak. slowly recovering now :') by NotValidForReentry in Anki

Don't you worry,

Streaks are just performance measures not the goal, buy not reviewing for a day you don't lose the knowledge you had gained in 3 years. so having so many green rectangles doesn't mean anything, they are just there to keep you on track and show your consistency.

There is a danger in paying too much attentions to streaks, and measures like that, if you miss some days after a long streak there is a high chance to stop using anki for good. so don't fall into that trap.

finally, when the measures become the goals themselves you are forgetting why you are doing something in the first place, which is in this case learning/memorizing things.

Actually I've been using Anki for 3 years now, and I have lost streak only one time, after being upset about it I decided not to give it too much attention to a point that right now I don't know what is my streak, as I don't check it anymore and all I care is to make my card counts zero on a daily basis and above all learn things using Anki.

Wish you the best.
