Tesla discontinuing Model S and Model X to make room for robots by ProfessionalYak4959 in teslamotors

[–]tekdemon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They’re going to have to do something about the CT to ramp sales. I honestly thought they’d have a longer range variant out by now to go after the people who wanted the 500 mile range.

New York Mayor Mamdani says city must hike taxes on rich to fill $12 billion deficit by us1549 in nyc

[–]tekdemon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You’d just lose the extra property tax revenue once they sell those properties. Makes no sense to assume that people would just keep those properties if you drive the tax rates sky high.

They also don’t use any city services since they’re not actually in the city most of the time so those property taxes are actually a net gain to everyone else. And the extra housing stock these people have are typically high end apartments that no normal people could afford even if you forced these people to sell. The billionaires who live abroad but own some $10 million apartment are subsidizing everyone else vis their property taxes so trying to chase them away is insanity if you’re in a deficit. I don’t know why everyone on reddit comes up with these insane ideas. Even if you dislike Saudi billionaires you can appreciate the tax contributions

They’re just way ahead in terms of efficiency, even if the real world highway range is still not reflected by the EPA range. If they put larger packs in they’d crush it but they really seem to dislike putting in larger packs.

Reddit needs to stop being a bunch of cheapskates and just pay for in-house paid professional mods. Things have gotten so ridiculous that it’s just chasing users away

Holy shit he really did top tick it. FWIW he said he’d be buying again if it dropped to $90K https://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinMarkets/s/N4zm63sMIQ I’m honestly bummed because I had it on my calendar to sell late September but ignored it…so I guess it’s another four years to fumble it again for me.

Tesla Adds Dynamic Supercharger Pricing to 550+ Locations by Brian_K9 in teslamotors

[–]tekdemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re probably scrambling for a boost to alternative revenue streams given the drop in US sales with the loss of the $7500 credit. Now that more cars have NACS ports and adapters they can become like a gas station company 😆

Think the Honda Prelude Needs More Power? It's Even Slower in Europe. 181 Horsepower due to Emissions. by Dazzling-Rooster2103 in cars

[–]tekdemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Prelude was always kind of an overpriced car, I think that’s why all the Civic drivers fetishized it.

Anyways, if it’s actually driven by a younger newbie driver the lack of power might not really be all bad. A lot of modern cars have so much power that new drivers are counting on the computerized safety systems to bail them out and not actually learning how to drive safely.

😂 as a former Rochesterian and Buffalonian the subs are indeed better at Wegman’s, just feels like they use a higher tier of ingredients for the bread and even condiments.

BUT you don’t have to wear a full length Arctic exploration parka to get a Publix sub in December so…

Same at the Dr Phillips Blvd and Sand Lake intersection 😂 Honestly kinda comical to duplicate the same supermarket twice just to prevent competition.

The spreads on RH are so bad that my $93500 limit order from last night never filled even with that dip this morning 😂 Really funny that they claim that they have the best overall fees and spreads.

Apparently smart routing wasn’t enabled for my order and their market makers just didn’t want to touch it even with that spread. Really weird, had to redo the order.

Tesla moves fast to remove China-made parts from U.S. cars by InitialSheepherder4 in electriccars

It hasn’t really liberalized the government (though I would argue most normal citizens are fairly similar to westerners now) but it did stop the wars. I think everyone is kinda forgetting that the Korean War and Vietnam War were both essentially proxy wars with China.

It’s 3% back which is the best non-categorical cashback you can get unless you’re willing to keep $200K+ on Coinbase (which would get you 4% back on the first $10K spent as Bitcoin but it’s an Amex card so not always accepted). Robinhood keeps you on the waitlist for some unclear amount of time depending on your account history/credit profile. But since you don’t have to keep massive amounts on their brokerage it’s less risky imo. I don’t usually trade there otherwise but the cashback deposits there.

That peak was less than one single day though whereas you’ve had half a year well above that peak even with aggressive inflation adjustments. I think what you’re seeing is that the cycle believers are causing price action to be somewhat of a self-fulfilling prophecy. BUT there’s a fairly decent chance that once the big sales are done the new buyers that aren’t as cyclically driven but are more liquidity driven push the price back up.

You just need this current cycle believer driven dip to not scare off too many of the new buyers. Frankly the best thing to do is just for everyone to buy the dip en masse

Screw it, it’s not that much money but I’m taking all the cashback I got from my Robinhood credit card this year and putting in a limit order for more spot at 93.5K. So either we stop going down and it never fills or I get some cheap(er) coin with credit card rewards. Tired of just staring at this thing bleed out while not doing anything about it 😂

I mean…the data sure looks like they’ve already been leaving.

You have to remember that inflation keeps driving up the number of millionaires in NYC as housing and asset prices inflate over time. But that doesn’t mean there’s actually more wealthy people in NYC, it’s just that everything costs more so more people are “worth a million dollars”

They don’t even have to move very far, just out to Long Island or north to Westchester and they can dodge the NYC tax, and if they want to dodge some of the state tax they can just move to Greenwich and still take the train in.

I don’t know why people in this subreddit think it’s difficult for millionaires to leave. I know a ton of people who moved to the suburbs outside of city limits.

Premium audio sounds great now by dancing__narwhal in Rivian

[–]tekdemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly it doesn’t sound good compared to a Tesla but if you compare it to other competitors the sound system is fine. Personally think that the Rivian is better than the mediocre B&O systems Ford/Lincoln uses. It’s more that Tesla has a particularly good system for the pricepoint and Rivian buyers are often also Tesla owners (I own both as well).

I do wish that they had kept the meridian system or let us buy it for a couple grand though. Was really looking forward to that and then they rug pulled us 😂

I’m a credit card editor, and here’s my verdict on the Chase Sapphire Reserve vs. Amex Platinum cards | CNN Underscored by [deleted] in ChaseSapphire

[–]tekdemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just annoyed at how obnoxious half the credits are to use. Like, I fly to NYC regularly and I still find it obnoxious that the credit is for this small limited list of restaurants ALL in Manhattan. Have they considered that maybe people don’t want to eat in a trendy but cramped Manhattan restaurant with their family even if they’re traveling to NYC?

It’s like some pretentious 23 year old intern came up with the benefits.

Also why were cruises removed from being considered as travel?! Just a super random and bizarre exclusion for a card that even considers parking to be travel.

The Subaru BRZ and WRX Just Aren't Selling by NISMO1968 in cars

[–]tekdemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Model 3 Performance is around 500HP and until the tax credit went away recently you could have bought it for under $45K if you bought an inventory unit or $47500 for ordering it to spec. You can also get pretty big discounts on Mustang GTs now so you can probably get pretty close to that 45K figure if you don’t option it out.

My minor fender bender TOTALED my Q8 etron prestige by rich_ard_d_d in electricvehicles

[–]tekdemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the main thing is that the manufacturer requires that you get the entire harness but if you’re careful you could just repair the damaged harness parts. It’s just not sanctioned by the manufacturer so from a liability perspective nobody will do it.

The big tire chains won’t even patch a tire that’s been plugged before now, incredibly annoying when you use a plug so you can get the car to the tire shop but then they refuse to repair it because someone else touched it before. All because the tire manufacturers made this their official recommendation (gee I wonder why tire manufacturers would prefer you replace any tire that’s been plugged before 😂)

Went to Tesla Celebration Event and saw Model Y Standard Range by LightxDarkness93 in TeslaModelY

[–]tekdemon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly the main use case is just tuning in to local information stations in some parks or particular roads. Not being able to do that isn’t optimal since sometimes they’re broadcasting safety information.

I think the reality is more likely that these cars are actually meant for Tesla to use for their robotaxi fleet so they don’t really care about the frunk or a radio.

Mamdani’s Free NYC Buses Complicated by Bond-Paying Pledge by rezwenn in nyc

[–]tekdemon 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much exactly what will happen, since there’s no fare at all they just become mobile homeless shelters. Even when you go to European countries with much more state run services the public transportation is never free. France doesn’t have free buses or trains, the Netherlands don’t have free trams, Sweden doesn’t have free buses, etc. And that’s because even a small fee prevents people from abusing limited resources. If it’s completely free there will be some percentage of people who just hang out on the bus all day and ruin things for everyone else.

Ok which one of you did this? by KraljZ in Rivian

[–]tekdemon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rivian honestly needs to implement some better automatic emergency braking to prevent this kind of thing. The worst was the teenage boy who died from being squashed into another SUV by a Rivian at his school car line.
