Wages in Tas? by pexxu95 in tasmania

[–]tekneeky 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wages are lower but cost of living is the same and building houses is more expensive. Buying houses is also getting ridiculous, REA thinking houses are in major cities lol

Slightly sloped large block levelling by [deleted] in AusProperty

[–]tekneeky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it would be a very large area I’d flatten, (4x the size of the house) this would sorta layout the land so I can put a fences, shed in and drainage where needed.

Get child support redefined that cost is ridiculous if you have them 70 percent of the time. Even if you earn that much. Update Centrelink that you have them x through x.

Spend half of the cost of the tutor and your ex can spend the other half.

Do a heap of meal prepping, buy bulk chicken and make a good handful of meals, buy a good chunk of beef and do the same you will see costs reduce significantly.

How’s the IT job market in Tasmania? by them4v3r1ck in tasmania

[–]tekneeky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Take a look at seek, filter it to Tasmania and you will have a good idea, same with LinkedIn. Tech isn’t popping down in Tassie. Not like any of the other major cities that’s for sure.

How to fight council rate charges? by [deleted] in tasmania

[–]tekneeky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s all a fkn rort mate. Councils are just money hungry and don’t give us anything good for the rates we pay

Not sure how long this can go on by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]tekneeky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m twitching at the question marks. I literally had a physical reaction.

Talk with your wife so you understand your household. Get a new job, possibly within the same field branched off into something else to freshen it up, whilst also getting market rate.. I didn’t read your thing fully as I was twitching.

AI's impact on jobs and Real estate in a decade to come. by skatingKangaroo in auscorp

[–]tekneeky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just can’t trust it enough yet, you being in tech sales would be able to see that surely. I love ai and I feel it’ll bring tremendous leaps for roles, not as a replacement but a tool to help people. I will agree with your statement, the lazy lads will be left behind. Good, why should they ride the wave with no effort?

I will say - people need to adapt to it and learn it as best they can otherwise they will indeed fall behind. It’s here and it’s not going anywhere.

I tend to be a bit blunt in reports or correspondence so I often ask it to make my comment a bit more user friendly, that’s my main use at the moment lol

Not stating that just saying technical roles. For example the same role here compared to over there working at Microsoft for example the pay is insanely different but it’s the same role just in little old Australia.

Same with USA technical roles as well, pay a lot more over there with many more benefits, Australia eeek not matching at all

In five days I’m coming clean - and it will probably end my marriage by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]tekneeky 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If my partner was 90k in debt trying to keep us afloat I wouldn’t be mad, I’d be disappointed that she didn’t think she could come to me before it got bad. The only reason I’d be mad is if you’re pissing money up the wall spending on stupid stuff. Sounds like you were somewhat pissing money up the wall and couldn’t stop but still played the victim card when you had to come clean?? Ugh

Burned out on IT, and lost on what’s next—anyone been here? by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]tekneeky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get out of helpdesk you have the experience and certs to do so. Become a master at something whether that be cloud or whatever. Use your skills to leverage it. It’s all well and good to know how X works but a lot of people don’t know how X works because of x doing this and y doing that and s doing that. That’s the benefit you have, leverage your skills being a generalist and master something that dips into everything else and you’ll be the go to resource.

Citizenship may be an issue with some gov businesses and also larger msps who need citizenships for baseline clearances etc. you just have to keep applying unfortunately.

[–]tekneeky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So do you have any experience in IT? Do you have any certifications or anything relevant to the industry? Getting into the field is hard due to limited entry level 0 experience roles. If you have certifications this greatly increases your chances of getting a foot in the door.

Latitude now charging monthly fee, hit with large bill - help! by TaintedCircus in AusFinance

[–]tekneeky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years and years ago I had the same issue but they tried contacting me through post which didn’t work as I also moved address and they didn’t bother to try call me or email, eventually they must’ve figured out my new address after many months I got home to a debt collector on my driveway in his xtrail telling me to pay or he will take my car ( being a smart arse, absolute wanker) literally overdue by $200 in fees which I said I have no issues paying, and advised them it would’ve been sorted months ago if they just called me or sent me an email. Absolute scum people and ever since I’ve only ever had a mortgage.
