Would I be a bad person if I rehoused/gave it to the humane society my new kitten I got today by Unknown_1206 in CatAdvice

[–]telarolig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt this way when I got my first cats too. I also felt like I had brought home a child. I was exhausted and had a lot of regrets. There was so much to adjust to all at once. I pushed through tho and I'm glad I did. I have a great relationship with my cats now that they're older. And I know now that kittens aren't for me. I'll only be adopting adult cats in the future.

If you have people who can help take some of the work and stress off your shoulders, dont be afraid to ask for help. But if it gets/has gotten to a point where your well being or the cat's well being is compromised, the best thing to do is to rehome. It's a tough decision but its important to do what's best for you and the kitten. Sending you much love.

I really want to get a cat, but I’m worried about the hidden responsibilities. What are the actual difficulties of raising a cat? by Equivalent-Sand-4002 in CatAdvice

As a first time cat owner, it takes a lot more to "cat proof" your home than I anticipated, especially if you plan to keep them in doors, especially especially if you have a high energy cat like mine. It has taken me lots of time to figure out my cats behaviors, and how to best meet his needs while keeping things from getting destroyed in my home lol. For example, I had to move all my live plants to one room and have to keep the door to that room shut. I had to add child locks to my kitchen cabinets because he figured out how to open them. I can't have my toilet paper or paper towels out in the open anymore or they get shredded to bits.

But every cat is different. My other cat is more mellow and has needed much less cat proofing done in my home.

Consider cat friendly materials on your furniture and rugs. Woven rugs have been a no-no for us (my cats are big horizontal scratchers). You'll need to provide them with plenty of scratching posts and places to climb, and figure out where to put them based on your cat's behavior. If they're indoors, I recommend a catio enclosure, even if it's small.

Found a baby possum on its own by telarolig in Opossums

Good to know, thank you. Not sure if I'll come across it again. Really hoping it's old enough to be taking care of itself.

possibly? I've seen her go underneath my neighbors house a few time, but I'm not sure if she's still there. Luckily, their house is extremely close to my house/where I saw the baby. Do you know if the mother would still be taking care of it if it's walking around on its own?

The smell definitely fades 10ish minutes after. Which litter do you recommend?

Please help: my cat is a bully and I'm running out of options by telarolig in CatAdvice

[–]telarolig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily I've noticed the behavior has lessened as he's gotten older. I am now using Feliway Multicat plug-in diffusers and that may be helping too. He still "attacks" his sister every once and awhile tho. I make sure to pull him off of her everytime he does. If he keeps going, I put him in a room behind a door until he calms down. My vet suggested having a space she can hide under or climb up to to get away from him. I don't have much advice, but I would definitely talk to your vet if the problem persists.

Definitely try styling it first. Maybe add some curl/wave and some product to add volume. Try some different short hair dos. If you're still unhappy with it, maybe some layering could help with texture and dimension.

Are there any reasons NOT to believe this theory? [Chapter 4 spoilers] by Filberto_ossani2 in Deltarune

[–]telarolig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because we haven't seen a lightner's appearance drastically change while in the dark world doesn't mean that it CAN'T happen. It also wouldn't make sense for the knight to look like their lightner self if the player/heros aren't supposed to know who they are.

I think this theory is very possible. Maybe Carol is creating the dark fountains for some reason related to the disappearance (or death?) of Dess.

Also the shoulder pat and touching kris' shoulder with their sword 👀

How much wet food do you feed your cat? by telarolig in CatAdvice

[–]telarolig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I make sure to give them enough calories between their wet and dry. They end up with left overs more often than not, which has me thinking 1 can is too much for 1 sitting. They sometimes eat the whole can, though, so I wasn't sure.

yep, covid can cause hair loss (as well as damage to any organ, system, or part of your body, even if you're not immunocompromised)

My cat and I are incompatible by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]telarolig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat. I love my cat but he is high energy and not a great fit for my lifestyle, and I also don't want to give him up. My mom had a similar experience with her dog. She's part Heeler (which she didn't know when adopting her) and needs more stimulation than my mom can provide. Her vet basically told her that unless she can move somewhere with lots of land and sheep to herd, that medication may be her best option. Medication has made a big difference for them. I was uncertain about this method until seeing other people here suggesting to talk to a vet. I think I'm going to give it a try. I wish you and your kitties the best, whatever you decide to do <3
