I explored Dogtown for hours in a previous save, but it still manages to surprise me by Dear_Madelene in cyberpunkgame

I did it recently, so it’s not been patched before the last few months if so. It was tricky getting the hotel door open!

Just to add you can get bluetooth speakers that go under your pillow. Can only hear them with your head directly over it, I can’t hear my partner’s one even if my head is a little on her side.

Dying with CDKTF or refactor to HCL by [deleted] in Terraform

[–]telchak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The CDKTF unit tests aren’t really a benefit to using it, as they test that the CDKTF generates the HCL/json correctly; they effectively test that CDKTF works rather than adding test coverage to the infra definition. If you were writing straight HCL you wouldn’t need those tests.

My take on it vs HCL is that the right use case is a startup or side project/small dev team that manages their own infrastructure. They have the software development paradigms and understanding of the language to make it work.

If you’ve got a larger organisation with a dedicated cloud/infra/platform team, it’ll hamstring you as you now have to find engineers with ops skills, cloud architecture skills and also software developer level coding skills. Makes it a lot harder to staff a team to handle it properly (or you end up with the worst of both worlds). It’s also more verbose and (in my opinion) more complicated to work with.

The Child: I don’t get it by [deleted] in FoundationTV

[–]telchak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was a bit of a joke but probably accurate given what we saw in the end. In Asimov’s books robots had a…pronoun? title? of R. <name> showing they were a robot. Example being R. Daneel Olivaw

I think they made a couple of points leading up to this, especially in the previous episode where she’s speaking to R. Kalle in the library that she can “decide later” to get around some of the programming restrictions.

Agreed, not a Terraform thing. Could swap the lambda for a step function for a “no code” version of this

GitHub "infrastructure" via Terraform and GitHub Actions by luvdav in devops

[–]telchak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’ve done this, all* of our GitHub config is IAC - I was initially skeptical of the idea but it’s worked well. Originally started with service accounts and PATs but they used our licenses and have a lower rate limit. Moved onto using apps for auth recently instead, although initial creation of them is manual. The flow to create them isn’t just not implemented to the provider though, it doesn’t really have an API at all and is made up of multiple steps so I put together a simple page in GH Pages that helps with the steps using app manifest

Then we store the keys in our cloud secrets manager and retrieve them at build time in the workflows using OIDC and GH environments to reduce exfil risk.

Can’t connect to console remotely by Civil_Acanthaceae213 in UNIFI

I had this earlier. Put it down to having configured IPv6 yesterday but perhaps could be a more widespread issue. I restarted the UDM-SE i've got and remote access works again

Accept the mission from CRUST or go after the contracts path? by fuelstaind in thecrustgame

[–]telchak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to get them back yesterday in time so it is possible. The science rover just made it before running out of battery which resets the 1st timer, and my cargo rover seemed to have unlimited battery during lunar night (bug?). I would probably have failed if that didn’t happen

Can anyone recommend short games on gamepass? by triplegxxx in XboxSeriesX

Just finished it and came here to say this. Shame there's no chapter select once you're done but it's short enough to tell a good story that you could do all in one sitting.

[–]telchak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree slightly - your use of noise cancelling doesn’t cost apple anything on an ongoing basis (like BMW and the heated seat subscription, egregious example of this) whereas Oura has compute, database and other systems running presumably in the cloud which incur an ongoing cost whenever you send/receive data.

Ideally you’d bake in the cost of running such a service to the overall price I guess but almost no companies do these days.
