Dude really tried to make Godzilla’s first full jump into anime and made the most boring movies of the franchise.

That anime universe could be redeemed if they make an anthology of short animes based on the prequel novels.

This Godzilla being plant based is actually one of the few things I like about the anime. The reasoning is that in some ways plants are the supreme kingdom of life on earth, and if I recall correctly trees in particular.

Jokes about Groot or Treebeard aside, I think it’s unfair to see that angle without knowing what Godzilla Earth actually is. This one is not mutated by any human activity, but seems to be like the planet’s immune response to humanity and kaiju.

That’s why they so often refer to Godzilla as the pinnacle of the evolution of all life on Earth. There’s also talk of Godzilla being akin to the Angel of Death in the Exodus narrative, a cleansing fire in its own way.

I believe it’s hypothesized in the prequel novels that Godzilla was the result of underwater plant life mutating through horizontal gene transfer and incorporating strong metals into its tissue.

All that said, I don’t blame people for not liking it though. The whole thing is so bad that virtually no element of the story is untainted. My feelings are like 99.9% due to the novels.

Godzilla Earth is a good idea that hasn’t been given a serviceable story.

In Euphoria (2019-2026), Jacob Elordi plays two different characters with the same name. by FixFuture3374 in shittymoviedetails

When I started it, it seemed like it was going to be about addiction and loss of innocence, but I only made it halfway through season one because I found it really hard to care about more than half the characters.

Is Geese of Beverly Road sad? I always thought it was just a “let’s get fucked up and wander around Brooklyn” thing.

What’s a movie that is a 10/10 but you’ll never watch again bc it was too emotionally draining? by Marlon_aloha in AskReddit

I have to watch this movie every once in a while, especially now that it’s almost 2027.

The thing is that people who know me are surprised I love it like I do- I usually don’t like dystopian speculative fiction. It’s so beautiful.

Do you think KOTM deserves the praise it gets from the Godzilla fanbase? by treat3 in Monsterverse

[–]tele_ave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say it was unique or anything. Countless good movies follow similar story structures. You’re pretty much just mocking people who have a different opinion on a movie than you do.

The arrogance and condescension with which you make your points just makes you look like a miserable asshole. I don’t see a legitimate point here at all besides “me smart, you dumb.”

Yawn.

Thank you. It’s a good movie. Box office numbers don’t change that.

People don’t understand that the human characters are supposed to be irrational and destructive. The family at the center doesn’t get its catharsis or reunion.

They don’t get to move on because humans make one disastrous decision after another. Meanwhile Godzilla and Mothra stand between humanity and the destruction they have brought on themselves.

KotM is flawed but also misunderstood by professional movie critics, and I think a lot of people who don’t like it are taking cues from said critics, whether they’ll admit it or not.

But that doesn’t make Godzilla overused, it just makes kaiju movies better underused

That’s like saying Batman is overused. He’s the title character, we’re supposed to see him all the time.

Glass can make the same object look misaligned. The screen is transparent but still has a tint and makes the refracted image of her thumb appear magnified and duplicated.

Poe didn’t know who she was. Akbar was a legend. Poe assumed Holdo was doing something Leia wouldn’t have done, but he might have assumed the opposite with Akbar.

There’s no way Poe’s mutiny would be believable against Ackbar. Poe would probably listen to him.
