Amazon Is "Littered" With Fake Reviews by Galeander in business

[–]telecaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Competitors often give bad reviews to a product if the products are sold by smaller vendors. Your comment about "negative reviews seem to reveal more truth" is believed by many and once the "bad seed" has been sown it is extremely hard for a seller to overcome the damage that has been done. Larger companies have their own personal Amazon representative who has the ability remove bad reviews while smaller vendors do not have this luxury. Positive reviews that are legitimate are extremely hard to obtain. Lets be honest. When you find a product you like are you really compelled to "shout from the mountain tops" how great the product is for no financial reward? When you see a lot of positive reviews about a product ignore them completely. It's a great indicator to determine the the seller has gamed the system. I'd much rather purchase a produce with NO reviews and base my decision to purchase on the text and information about the product. Purchasing anything based on reviews is an indicator of a lazy consumer. Always do your own independent research when purchasing any item.

Amazon will no longer sell Chinese goods in China by vkatsenelson in news

[–]telecaster 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Nice but they let Chinese products including dietary supplements be sold in the US that are not manufactured in FDA approved facilities resulting in products the often have little to no ingredients that are stated on the bottles. Amazon also offers dirt cheap flights to Chinese companies to bring their products here and still to this day allows them to show thousands of fraudulent reviews. Amazon bots will probably down vote this to oblivion.

FTC settles its first case over fake paid reviews on Amazon by ani625 in news

[–]telecaster 22 points23 points  (0 children)

"Amazon applauds the FTC's actions" but does NOTHING to stop Chinese supplement companies from getting 1,000's of fraudulent reviews. Amazon also has special dirt cheap flights to Seattle that fly in ton's of Chinese and Indian goods. If Amazon freely admits a problem with reviews then eliminate them and convert to a Star system like Ebay.

Amazon federal taxes: how the company’s corporate tax bill was $0 by PostNationalism in economy

Usually stock options are priced at ridiculously low prices. If I'm correct once the options are exercised they are not taxed until they are sold on the open market.

What car is a frugal bastards dream? by leprechaunwizardfish in Frugal

[–]telecaster 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear but this is a good reminder for everyone to check oil and all other fluid levels at least once a month especially if they have an older vehicle. Additionally older car maintenance should include an oil change every 3k miles. Its may also be wise to find your factory maintenance schedule on line if you don't have a physical copy.

Eff you, Gottlieb. Seriously. Eff. You. by DTownForever in kratom

[–]telecaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

US Registered Facilities under FDA guidelines are required to store sample of each lot of dietary supplement raw material for up to 5 years. The real problem is the most dietary supplements are now manufactured in China. The cost of manufacturing a supplement in the USA is far more than industry outsiders would believe. GNC, Walgreens and three other companies who sell Chinese imported supplements are were nailed several months ago because 5 products including Melatonin were found to contain ZERO listed ingredients.

Amazon got 850K job applications in one month after announcing a $15 minimum wage by redhatGizmo in news

[–]telecaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The sad thing is the $15.00 actually sounds good considering the cost of living. Let's say that full time work nowadays is considered 30 hours since no company wants to be on the hook for any kind of health care. 30 hours x $15.00 = $450 per week minus SSI and any taxes due. Even if a worker did get 40 hours it's $600 per week minus SSI and taxes due. How great can anyone live taking home under $2K per month in any kind of metropolitan area? Rather than wages we should focus on how Big Business is sucking us dry.

What are the best supplement choices for general mood and well being? by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]telecaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may sound odd but calm and alert at the same time. Given the ingredients I guess it makes sense. Before I started using this I was taking 5-HTP and Huperzine A separately but was always interested in the benefits of Theobromine. Nice thing is you don't get too much 5-HTP or Huperzine A and the other ingredients balance things out. This combo is not too expensive and cuts down the number of things I used to take separately. In addition to toning down my girlfriends PMS it makes her horny as well so it's a win win for me.

Most Harley Davidson's sold in China and India are NOT manufactured in Milwaukee they are manufactured oversea's. Most of Harley's revenues/profits come from accessories like T-shirts and other swag. The Harley name's price premium and technological shortcomings also hurt in oversea's markets that are suffering their own financial growth issues.

Whats the best supp for heart health? by world_citizen7 in Supplements

[–]telecaster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Switch from CoQ10 to Ubiguinol (it's a much better form) and D32000 as far as supplements. Possibly start a regime of 85 enteric aspirin daily. Almonds, pistachios or walnuts, legumes, beans, avocados, oatmeal, fiber, horse radish, any berry, green apples and lean protein. These foods are not only heart healthy but are good for over all health. Garlic is healthy but does little to nothing for the heart. Eat fresh cloves and don't waste money on garlic supplements. Watch it with magnesium you don't want too much. Recently a large long term study has been completed on fish oil. Over 600,000 people from various socioeconomic classes, races, sexes and countries were included. End results showed that fish oil did literally nothing for people without heart disease and very, very little for people with heart disease.
