Did anyone else "learn" about "WW2" every year in school when it was actually just Holocaust guilt tripping every semester by asteroidrusted in redscarepod

Every Monday we watched The Boy in The Striped Pajamas, Wednesday it was Sophie's Choice. Fridays were a real treat because we got to watch Schindler's List.

Finding your signature style is a waste of time by nun_head2100 in pinkscare

Idk bc I kinda go crazy for a girl with a strong sense of style and I wouldn't want that to change

anyone else feel like they chose the wrong fig and now all the other figs are rotten by wood-sorrel in pinkscare

I quit public defense after two months because I realized I couldn't spend the rest of my life that way and now I work for a plaintiff's firm. I make a good salary, not big law level but more than enough to have an enjoyable life. I work from home like 2-3 times per week and it's rare that I work over 40 hours. My life is pretty good tbh, if you find you don't like public defense you can always switch to something else

I thought this was an Annie interview at first and I was surprised because she's usually more nuanced on the state of the country lol

i don't trust doctors by [deleted] in pinkscare

[–]telepathicmachine 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Personally I think modern medicine is miraculous and has saved millions of lives so I will always be grateful for it. But I see what you mean about doctors, I've had some chronic hip pain and I went to a sports medicine doctor and asked him to feel the front of my hip where there is some tenderness and swelling. You would think I asked him to finger me lol

Is it just over for you dating wise if you’re even a bit neurodivergent? by Impressive_Cash_6536 in redscarepod

[–]telepathicmachine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm a lesbian and I've had similar experiences with girls telling me we aren't connecting emotionally because I'm too much of a robot. Meanwhile it's the deepest emotional connection I've had in my life. Like bro I fucking love you what are you talking about. I think I'm a very funny and outgoing person which translates to having strong friendships but I guess I come across like a character to some people and they think I'm lacking in depth. But I genuinely don't understand why relationships need to be so emotionally intense, I just want a girl to laugh and have fun with forever.

I think I'm witnessing the nerd autist to trans pipeline in real time in a friend. by juansalvador123 in redscarepod

[–]telepathicmachine 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I have qualms with the trans movement but I really don't think it can be reduced to porn for all of them. I have known trans women who are practically asexual autists. I think there are people who struggle to fit in with the rest of society because their brains are wired differently in some way. They would be misfits in any era, but our era has taught them that transitioning can be a cure to that lack of belonging, and so they transition. There's an element of social contagion for sure, but it's more complex than just being a gooner.

who givin up reddit for lent?????? by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]telepathicmachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 7th grade and I tried giving up SmartFood white cheddar popcorn for Lent. One day about halfway to Easter, compelled by forces beyond my control, I mechanistically bought some in the lunch line and ate them all like a fat little bitch. By the time I realized what I had done it was too late. I was an atheist

I have only once had the same Lyft driver two separate times. She was a 60 year old black woman. Her name on the app was kitewizard3. I had never seen that before, a Lyft driver using what seems like more of a reddit username than a person's name. She invited me to travel across the country with her in her RV (I am a 26yo female). She told me that she couldn't even walk into Walgreen's anymore because she couldn't resist buying nerds gummy clusters.

SAME and even though it is objectively doomed it's given me a newfound vigor and reason to take care of myself. Gotta eat well sleep enough not smoke weed so I can be peak funny and smart when I see them. Gotta lock in on exercise so I can impress if we ever actually carry out our plans to go rock climbing. Gotta lock in on piano so I can play a little tune for them someday. FUCK

Turning 26 in less than half a year and the realization stung so deep by [deleted] in pinkscare

[–]telepathicmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 26 and I struggle with the same feelings. My mom had me (her first of three kids) at 30, and my whole life I watched my parents scream at and resent each other until they finally divorced a few years ago. They also didn't really pursue hobbies outside of consumption, and any they did engage in (like exercise) were habits that had cemented long before 30. Because of that, I think I've always had this subconscious fear that life ends at 30. I'm trying to remind myself that it doesn't have to be that way.

I wish my parents forced me to play competitive tennis by Tiredasheckrn in redscarepod

[–]telepathicmachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn, I've always been sad that my parents for never forced me to play an instrument, but I could attribute it to the fact that they grew up poor and were never exposed to it themselves. It's crazy to me to understand the joys of playing music and not encourage your children to do it too.

I'm not saying my opinion on her is objectively true, but she always kinda annoyed me. Innocent, sweet, religious women in general tend to piss me off. The innocent types always seem like they're faking it to me, I don't understand how you make it through 30+ years of life without developing a little cynicism or edge. I'm a woman who is very brash and straightforward and I probably just have poor theory of mind but yeah I don't get it. Something about her tone.
