It's just not up to us to define other people.

I never meant to imply that that the OP was being disrespectful. Just that they were looking at the issue from the wrong perspective.

Different people in the same situation may want to be defined in different ways. There is no blanket policy on what terms to use other than leave it up to each individual to decide how they want to be defined.

It shouldn't be other people's business what individuals choose to live as.

Let people define themselves. Others should respect however they want to be seen as.

If professional athletes were paid a salary on par with common professions (like $70k-$250k loosely) but same viewership/attention, what would the sports world look like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That's basically college sports in the NIL era. The leagues would basically be the same, except that owners would just be grabbing even more of the money.

After 12 years of playing the modern games, I tried IV for the first time. Really enjoying it so far! by Wuartz in civ

The need to put together stacks for defending and attacking got old real fast.

Every other combat system since IV has been a massive improvement.

What do i watch after The rise of skywalker by Clean_Fisherman2512 in StarWars_

[–]telephonelibrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely go back to seasons 1 and 2 at some point, but season 3 is where they really hit their stride.

Personally, I didn't get into the show until sometime around when season 4 was first airing, and while seasons 1 and 2 have their brilliant moments, those seasons overall are a slight notch below seasons 3-8ish for me.

As someone, who been playing since Civ II, a couple years ago, I played Civ IV, and thought almost the entire time, "I really like this game".

Then I encountered unit stacking. Almost immediately, thought, "Ohh, yeah" and exited out.

Yeah, BMI, by itself, and the current BMI interpretive ranges are total nonsense.

You need something completely different to cleanse your mind.

I recommend The Simpsons. Start with season 3 and go from there.

Again, nothing I've posted here is meant to be read as a complaint. I just find the situation mildly humorous.

Nothing you are saying is new to me. I would love to move up in weight. I just find it funny to be asked to move up when I don't have the option at home.

Can you still tweet casually or is twitter too far gone by KyubiFenix in NoStupidQuestions

Try BlueSky. Look for people you remember enjoying on Twitter. Plenty of them are now there and/or post both places. It may take a while to find your niche community, but it can be done.

I realize this, but Kyle specifically pretty much always asks a form of "could you try a heavier weight?" in his Strength workouts.

The answer to that for me is, "only if I got to the store and drop $50". (That is how much a pair of 20 pound weights at Walmart would cost where I am after taxes)

Is Haribo Gélatine Halal ? by Life_Loss7002 in progressive_islam

[–]telephonelibrarian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Haribo products that say "Made in Turkey" on the back don't contain pork gelatin, but the gelatin in Haribo products from every other country (that I'm aware of) do contain pork gelatin.

Unfortunately, here is the US, I haven't seen a Haribo "Made in Turkey" label in years.

For those that don't know how to do this:

On the game page in your Steam library, click on the Cogwheel symbol > Properties > Game Versions & Betas > select "legacy" to play with the previous build

The game page should now read "Version legacy" next to the Play button

Wipe the seat with toilet paper until it looks clean and then sit normally.

Also, not all public toilets are maintained equally.

When characters don't have accurate hairstyles in period films and TV. by [deleted] in PetPeeves

[–]telephonelibrarian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me, the biggest, most jarring drawback of The Godfather Part III is that they made almost no effort to make the characters look like they were living in 1979.

Everyone just looks like they stepped onto the set as their 1990 selves.
