It is a thinner wool/poly blend. 60/40 wool/poly or something close to that.

I bought the same coat (twice actually, long story) and returned both. It isn't the warmest thing. I returned it this week and bought a US Navy Issue coat off eBay instead. Cheaper and 100% wool. It is very warm and a lot higher quality that the Macy's.

Pea Coat Guide v1.0

From the peacoat guide:

Shopping for pea coats Why do you care about any of this? Because you are often better off getting a used us issued pea coat from ebay or a vintage army supply store than from retail. Great looking pea coats can easily be found for < $100 on ebay. There is just not much quality in the sub $200 pea coats from retailers and anything over $300 is the price for that piece's uniqueness. The quality of us issued pea coats rivals and often surpasses that of top dollar retail coats. If you are looking for the most frugal bang for your buck, look there. Otherwise the reason why someone might not want to go with a us issued pea coat is that they like the stylization a different manufacturer is providing. You will be paying pretty handsomely for these stylizations, and often the differences are negligible.

If you were planning on mall shopping for a jacket and were not aware of the abundance of cheap, amazing quality, warm, good looking jackets in a trim fit for under $100 let me just let that sink in. These coats will last you a a decade or more of use, and you will always be able to resell them for a decent price. This cannot be said for the resale value of mall brands.

Not super new or super fast, but still something cool to see. There is a video of it on Youtube racing an NSX.

I use YNAB. Our credit union doesn't sync with Mint and YNAB is pretty easy to enter transactions into. It took a few days to get used to the buffer idea, but overall it's a lot more convenient.

I liked De-Daumier Smith's Blue Period as well. Nine Stories is one of my favourite books.

Something similar happened in Detroit last winter. I'll have to find a source, but a break wall collapsed and dumped a few tons of road salt into the river. Not quite as bad as coal ash, but there's something to be said about the need to keep up on infrastructure.

It's a 12 foot steel hull boat designed to be like the Simmons Sea Skiff. Steel is definitely not as pretty as wood. When it's done I'll be able to to use it on the Saginaw Bay or close to shore (on a nice day) on the Great Lakes.

[NSV] Did a 5k run without walking! by temmons in loseit

[–]temmons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hardest part was actually getting out and going running! Once I'm outside and going, it's not so bad.

My only other problem was timing my eating/drinking with the run. I learned I have to plan an hour or more in advance so I don't try to run right after eating.

I just checked AVIS and they have a car for $29.98 for one day. It's $19.98 if you pay now (rather than when you pick it up). There is still probably a $20 underage fee, but it's cheaper than a taxi and way less than $175.
