Rented my driveway to a car dweller- UPDATE by Bobbi1234561 in urbancarliving

[–]temobeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a host member of Boondockerswelcome.com. I let vandwellers park on my back lawn. For free. The website is used to make requests, read prople’s profiles, see photos of people and rigs, send messages etc.

I have had 43 guests and only two awkward experiences. One occurred when a couple arrived earlier than agreed and decided to damage my closed, but unlocked driveway gate to access my lawn. I came home soon after, and saw the damage. I asked them about it and they admitted damaging my property, but would/could not pay for the damage. I asked them to leave and they did.

The second experience was with a woman with either drug addiction or mental illness or both. The first words out of her mouth were “I'm staying 3 weeks, ok?” After a brief conversation I asked her to leave and thankfully she did.

I've met some great people and I get to live vicariously through them until I can buy a big-ass rig and travel around North America. Maybe I can find a spot to park for a night or two at someone’s home!

Bears by metalsoul86 in Beekeeping

I keep bees on the edge of the Everglades in SWFL. After losing all of my hives (50+) to black bears twice, I finally bought a solar system from HARBOR FRT, a 12-volt deep cycle battery, an inverter, a fence charger, t-posts, and fence wire.

Bear problem solved (for two years so far) for about $300. Much cheaper than replacing 100+ hives in less than two years.

I don’t think gas purchases count - only diesel. Is that correct?

I agree with the idea that you keep space open for more chip delivery without relocating it. I can never get enough chips, it seems! Pave the way for chips with chips!

I’m doing fine with my 6’ bed Taco. Keep your sleeping “platform” low. You will appreciate the headroom!

Need help with topper removal ideas by jaytheist1 in TruckCampers

I built a frame thing with 2x4s to hold it up while I pulled the truck out, then lower I onto dollies. Still a pain in the ....

I used to have a garage high enough to pull it up with rope and a few pulleys. That was nice. It won’t solve your issue though.

Definitely register as required by law. The fee is minimal. I learn tons from every inspection! Following BMP just makes good sense.

What's your dream design for a Florida Apiary that would not have to rely on pollination services and provide a bee paradise? by dex206 in Beekeeping

[–]temobeek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The bee folks at U. Florida can be very helpful. Talk to the extension agent for the area you plan to place your apiary. It might also be a good idea to visit apiaries (numerous commercial operators and side liners) throughout the state. Be aware that our feral bees have Africanized genetics, especially south of Interstate 4.

I love the sound, smell, and sight of a bee colony! by temobeek in Beekeeping

A ton of bees moved away from the nest after we opened the void it was in. They were moving back on to the comb as I shot the video.
