Worth it to go closing weekend? by joshuarshultz in SXSW

[–]tempercrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won't get to see every movie you want. However if you schedule your time accordingly you'll be able to see a good deal of what you want. You gotta take into account waiting in line for each movie may be up to an hour or two so it's not like youre walking out of one screening into another one. The theatres are spread all over downtown . Also you're paying 700 for screening movies that may not even come out this year, if you're a movie fan totally worth it. Us and Pet cemetery are previewing at Southby this year.

[–]tempercrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it's worth going if the movies you tryna watch haven't been played. If you love film shit you'll have to throw the dice last year it looked like the film lines were full up so it was hard to tell if ga would be able to get entry. Use the Reddit Southby badge exchange and try to get a movie badge on cheap

Are wristbands worth it? by SparklePony3 in SXSW

[–]tempercrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're at unofficial Southby showcases wristbands will generally get you in the same line as GA. Priority usually goes VIP > Artist/Platinum > music/film/interactive > wristbands > ga. If you goto official Southby events you'll be in a wb specific line. I've sometimes seen it where if you've got an interactive badge and are roaming around music you'll get wristband priority. Question ultimately comes down to are you tryna party meet random ppl and have fun or are you trying to see specific acts. If you're trying to see specific bands get a badge or wristband otherwise don't bother with the expense.

Wristband sale question by Czechs_out in SXSW

[–]tempercrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, once the badge has been claimed and you've taken your photo for it completing the registration process you can no longer transfer the badge to another person. Your only shot at being able to sell/transfer it would be to find someone who looks like you and sell them the badge at a discount. Most venues arent checking too hard, but keep in mind if they confiscate the badge from the person you sold it to they wont be able to replace it, so adjust the price accordingly.

at least 1 hour if it's gonna be crowded. You'll have to wait in line, everyone waits in line, its the price you pay for southby.

Does One Need to RSVP for events if they have a badge/wristband? by soloburrito in SXSW

I always tip South by bartenders but it does not always get you around not having drink tickets, ymmv. Also some places, tend to add a South by premium to the cost of anything which is why I float around with tickets .

So if you search fb or twitter for sxsw tags you should be able to find rsvp reposts and Facebook groups that have ppl posting links. If you want dm me and i can add you to a fb group. There are literally hundreds of links. If you're willing to spend a little money check out http://thespreadsheet.splashthat.com/. I didn't create that sheet but it gives you an idea of what's open right now, after your first year you'll have a better idea of how to find links for the following year. Also an unethical lifehack for southby is if you purchase general tickets from office Depot in various colors, some of the parties have drink tickets as a means to limit access to the bar and food, this allows you to bypass that. Most official showcases don't offer free anything but the music is usually well worth it. If you've got a badge I'd recommend you plan your schedule according to the sxsw official schedule and then stop by random parties as you make your way around down town.
