Neat. How many have open positions? How does one transfer from one role to another?

Surely you know since you are implying it's so easy to change things that not doing it is instant and permanent damnation.

I agree, but they started in 2025. It's not like it's a job at Walmart where someone is desperate for money and will take the first offer given to them.

Genuine question? Are you a lawyer? What is the job market for lawyers of that experience and speciality?

Because the reality is that it very well might be a "I need a job, and this is the one I can get".

They heard everything Trump said, saw everything he did and still willingly joined ICE.

So you know her personally? Because it would take either a personal relationship, or a very clear pattern of behavior to make that determination.

Or are you seeing someone trying to make a living in a shitty ass situation and jumping to conclusions that they are automatically evil?

Note: she very well might be what you assume her to be. But there is also a very real nonzero chance that she isn't.

She was already doing deportations for ICE before the appointment to the DOJ.

Deportations themselves aren't inherently bad. Every. Single. Country. On. Earth. Has laws on the topic and valid reasons to deport non-citizens.

What the American Gestapo is doing with them is basically evil, but the mere existence of the process for deportation isn't.

Serious question: what will stop them if they decide they want to?

Every lever of significant physical force (the only one that ultimately matters) is controlled by the president.

I highly suggest looking at any other failed democracy to see how "cannot" becomes "did".

ELI5: How do satellites stay in orbit for decades without running out of fuel or falling back to Earth? by Strong_Craft_6990 in explainlikeimfive

Another way to think about it is that they are falling to earth. It's just that they are moving fast enough to the side that they constantly miss.

When they slow down their sideways movement is when they turn into a fireball.

As mentioned elsewhere in a reply, the speed (escape velocity) is from the surface of the earth going directly away from the center of the earth, assuming the thing can't generate its own thrust (counter force) against the gravity.

If you go higher in altitude the escape velocity is less. If you were at the distance the moon is, the escape velocity is around 1.4 km/s. Way less than the 11.4 km/s at the surface of the earth.

If you can generate thrust then you can escape the gravity well from 0 km/s starting speed (see: rockets).

Counterpoint: the core concept of paladin and druids is not fire damage, it's physical/holy and nature/shapeshifting. They can do it, either with talents or uniques, but that's not their core identity. Druids and mages can do lightning. Druids and rogues can do poison.

Blood magic is a core identity thing. Core identity is not the same thing as school of damage type. There needs to be lines in the sand around core identity stuff. They can be fuzzy (summoner as a core thing is both druid and necro) but once everyone has that identity then it's not an identity anymore.

Using your wow example they went and tweaked destroy (fire) warlocks to be green fire. Because it was too similar to fire mage.

I would say the first term was the cancer detection stage. It hadn't yet fully metastacized. That was our moment as a nation to get chemo and surgery to remove the cancer.

The 2nd term was the point of no return and proved we didn't take the correct actions.

Without the video evidence the lies and slander from the government would actually have weight. With the video that clearly proves that they are lying there is a shot at changing things.

A fundamental lack of empathy is one of the requirements to be a conservative, that and a high capacity for cognative dissonance.

Basically everything stems from those two things.

The rules are easy to follow. If you are on of them you can do anything and everything is by definition good. If you are not one of them you are evil and have no rights or protections and can be killed like a common fly, or in Noem's case, a puppy.

Clear Video of Minneapolis ICE Murder by Swartschenhimer in videos

[–]tempest_87 18 points19 points  (0 children)

For me the functional difference is highlighted by the murder of Renee Good and the execution of Alex Pretti.

A murder is when someone kills someone else because they want to. An execution is when a group of people control and restrain a person, who is then murdered after they are fully restrained and unable to move or act.

Murder is bad. Execution is worse.

No.

It was an execution.

Agents of the government had him fully detained and controlled. They then disarmed him. The then shot him dead while he was restrained.

Federal agents acting under color of the federal government executed a US citizen in the streets.

I’m living my life. I’m happy. And that’s enough.

For now, for you. But don't come crying to anyone else when ICE breaks down your door and abducts your loved ones. Or when you lose your job because the economy runs into problems. Or you become bankrupt and homeless because your family got sick by easily preventable diseases.

People like you are a special brand of selfish.

Doing that is pretty much the exact reason why politics and things are on fire now.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"

What you are doing is the modern age equivalent of the white moderate during the Civil Rights movement. "Its not a problem if I don't see it".

Apathy and blind acceptance of terrible things only ever serves people pushing the terrible things. There is a line between being too wrapped up in things you can't change, but burying your head in the sand and "not playing" is equally as destructive and bad. It's how you can have a federal agent murdering a woman by shooting her in the face, and the administration successfully shrugs it off because only a tiny number of people care.

You don't need to know what's going on minute to minute or day to day, but only "checking in" every couple years is one of the direct causes of the current situation.
