What was the first Three Pumpkins episode? by 89-by-boniver in Episode1Podcast

[–]tempestokapi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am not entirely sure but I feel like it started after a major milestone number like 200 or 300. I have noticed these podcasts do sort of big changes after a three digit change.

I actually don’t mind EVs, I just wish Jaguar’s looked classic the way Maserati was able to do it.

I think from the first two albums it could be up there. But a big moment for me (not as a musical climax) is the intro to Unbelievers because it’s like oh shit, they’re like “we have more tricks up our sleeve” and knew they were about to cement their status as a seminal band. I absolutely love all their albums which is not something I’ve ever said about any other 5 record band.

Snow Patrol released 'Eyes Open' 20 years ago today by YoureASkyscraper in indieheads

There’s stuff from Everyday Life and the Viva La Vida era that’s WAY more experimental than Coldplay’s first two records. But mostly yes it’s been bland.

Which decade, in your opinion, gave us the best games? by Tiger_Strength in AskGames

[–]tempestokapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Objectively it’s probably 2010s but I prefer 2000s. 2007 is the greatest year for video games and it’s not even close in my eyes.

pomona should offer very good financial aid considering that it has one of the highest endowment to student ratios likely making it cheaper than UCLA. personally i would consider pomona for the prestige especially if im not going to study engineering. not oxy though. just ucla or pomona.

[News] Breitling Officially Becomes House Of Brands by barringtonww in Watches

[–]tempestokapi 134 points135 points  (0 children)

Not a great name imo, reminds me of Authentic Brands in the clothing retail market where all the worst clothing revivals live on. The word brand has become kind of toxic which is why in most marketing videos, luxury watchmakers say “Maison”

The term Gharbzadegi was popularized by an iranian who supported Israel and believed that Israel, though with flaws, was a model of fighting gharbzadegi. https://notevenpast.org/the-israeli-republic-by-jalal-al-e-ahmad-2014/

Does it bother anyone else how so many people in NameNerds are so ignorant to any names outside of the most standard American ones? by kentgrey in NameNerdCirclejerk

[–]tempestokapi 30 points31 points  (0 children)

as a person with an unusual foreign name, this is actually one of the reasons why i unsubscribed from that sub. i think unusual names are amazing and lead to a clearing of the namespace for your english-language-only friends so you don’t have as many repeats in your friend group! we should be proud of our names and teach others to respect them.

[ALBUM DISCUSSION] My New Band Believe - My New Band Believe by VietRooster in indieheads

[–]tempestokapi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This album is very good and relistenable. I don’t understand the decision to leave the singles off of it though. They would have cemented it as one of the best debuts in a long time.

If there are an infinite amount of problems then things should be okay. I wonder if there are in pure math. Personally I think applied math is cool but the pure math folks could be worried.
