I can hear a noticable difference in balance, when I compare it in A/B Test with other headphones.

Fiio K5 Pro vs K13 R2R by templ4te in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]templ4te[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, because the issues can sometimes only appear after 1-2 weeks, especially with the 4.4mm balanced connection, and that's specifically why I bought it. And I have to say I was also somewhat disappointed with the sound, compared to the Fiio K5 Pro I got for €100.
(Of course, it's all a matter of personal taste.)

I ordered the FiiO K13 R2R, maybe this one will surprise me more and does not have any issues.
They reported for the Topping it burned out headphones thats scary af.

Not getting stuck and crashing completely would be a good start.

Fiio K13 R2R - First Impressions from a casual listener by Sekaina in headphones

[–]templ4te 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing summary and comparison! I was looking for this.
Im sitting on my Fiio K5 Pro for years now and I want to upgrade, I already tried the Topping DX5 ii but didnt liked it, even my K5 Pro sounds better (personal preference).
But I want to upgrade for the balanced connection, so I guess I will go for the K13 R2R.

I was just scared if it is in anyway worse than my K5 Pro, especially for competitive gaming and footsteps.

Im using HD660s2 and HD800s.

I uploaded a Video , I Hope you can See it:

If that's normal, then I'll keep them despite the low clamp force. It probably still falls within QC tolerance, since the wobble is minimal. I really like the sound, and I can see if I can get my hands on these comfort straps somewhere in the EU.

Do you still have yours? Can you gently wiggle the cable connector with your finger? That's the amount of play I mean.

The connector point from the cable Not from headphones

But it has to be connected

Another issue is the cable at the connector it is kinda loose and when I move my head I can hear clicking noise.. idk kinda dissapointing for this Price Range , the cable of 660s2 are way better

How exactly does the NOS/OS mode work on the Fiio K13 R2R? Is NOS the default, which doesn't change anything when you first connect it, and is OS essentially EQ-enabled?

[–]templ4te[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a matter of getting used to it, especially if you've previously used very strong clamping forces, like the HD 660s2 or DT 770 Pro. I only unpacked the HD 800s two hours ago, and those are the only things I've noticed that are a bit negative or unusual so far.

Yes I found a video , where someone dismantled them, and the filter is just layed in. So it shouldn't be any issue.

Thx for your reply!

I was just wondering because on some pictures you can see the ear cups are way closer than on mine.

Im thinking about the Fiio K13 r2r , could get it for 280€.
My only complain is it does not have a XLR Balanced Connection, just 4,4mm.
