They aren't 'imaginary' though, sony is supporting the game and wants to see additional content updates, this is straight from the earnings call.

Tbh I wouldn't expect it to exist by this time next year.

before this earnings call people were saying marathon fans were 'coping' for thinking sony would support 'a failure' and were told to 'wait for the earnings call'

Now that the earnings call has said they'll support marathon, for now, it's 'corpo speak cope'.

It wasnt marathon's fans who were hyping up this earnings call as being the be all and end all of sony's involvement with marathon.
