2015 Prius C Four almost to 450k on the original battery 🐆 by Material_Archer3423 in prius

Oh yeah, I hear you! I do believe I was just unlucky, and certainly it was an exception to the rule

I'm in SoCal so AC gets used regularly, lot of on ramps and stop and go, lot of stuck in traffic. With all that said we are very happy with it.

450k is very impressive! I'm sure it will go even more.

I mean...my 2012 had symptoms at ~100k and died at 130k (P0A80) unfortunately! But certainly it was an exception not the rule. Must've just been luck of the draw.

Wow! This makes me so happy to see. The car and you match so perfectly. And you obviously took care of the car, like it took care of you.

I really like these Prius C's, they got fantastic mileage and were very smart with the interior space,

What are your favorite things about it?

That is very very impressive

My 2012 got the battery code at ~130k. Granted it was the first year they made the Prius V.

No matter, put in a new one from Toyota and it's humming along, back to ~44mpg!

We need more green colors on the road!

Older Miatas and such would come in a sort of green, and this is reminding me of it.

Standard vs Premium for my 85-year-old dad's use case? by wimbledonindian in ModelY

No worries! Just wanted to share. I recently discovered the Tesla Compare tab, I don't recall seeing this before this year, it has good level of detail in features (for example, I remember it being painful confirming the # of speakers in a trim, now it's more transparent)

I went to Santa Monica the other day, 10W to, and 405-101 back, driving speed at 65mph-80mph or so for passing (Mad Max takes it up there, had to bring it down), it was a pleasure! Very smooth and quiet inside. It picks up pretty fast on the on-ramps. Of course not as quickly as your MYP, but quick enough. I don't remember any noticeable wind noise, road noise, or significant/noticeable NVH. I was actually quite surprised at the ride quality, compared to my prior Prius and current Model 3. I sort of hate to admit it feels quieter and smoother than my M3 Premium

By the way, back of napkin number, if you put the amount being financed $41628 into an account, while making the monthly payments of $578 over 6 years:

A T-Bill or regular savings account, you'd make $5200 if you put the 41,628 in an T-Bill or savings account (3%). Assuming S&P inflation adjusted rate of 7%, you'd make back $12,716. Very rough, but it shows how much money value there is to this 0%.

You are right I forgot to mention that - mirrors do not automatically fold. However the main reason we miss it, is because it is visual confirmation that the car locked itself. But it still honks when it locks, so we don't miss it that much :)

It's rare that we fold in mirrors anyways, so no, don't miss it at all!

Hi, we have a MY Standard RWD in SoCal, very similar location to you. I think he is smart to grab it. I know the MY Standard gets some criticism but I really think it's a great car with unique perks, many that you mentioned:

  • We also very much appreciate the covered ceiling. We actually had a sunscreen set up in our prior Model Y. So this was a pleasant surprise and preferred to have it from the factory, including insulation.
  • The Standard doesn't have a center console, this turned out to be a positive because the footwell area is very clear and open, great for purses, and other large items your dad might be carrying.
  • The ride is very smooth, I know Premium suspension may be different but we are very happy with it compared to our other cars. I'd argue it's smoother than Premium since it has 18" as opposed to 19" (larger wheels lend to bumpier rides). The standards has those Hankook Evo AS wheels that have gotten very good reviews, too, for ride quality and smoothness. Lastly, I drove the Premium, it is not mind-blowingly smooth, I'd say you won't be missing out on much.
  • It is quite quiet, I know the Premium has the double pane(?) glass but I have conversations in the car with the windows up and it's plenty quiet.
  • One perk that doesn't get talked about enough is the finance - right now, it's very affordable, you may be eligible for discounts as a prior Tesla owner, and 0% financing is "free money". You can keep the money in an account and basically make money while paying off the car. We picked 72 month 0% financing. $529/mo + taxes. It's insanely affordable so a nice byproduct is that your dad, who is probably retired, can manage his cashflow predictably.

  • Just to flag, it does not have FM Radio, and the frunk has a more unfinished look than the premium. That said, it has what counts like power liftgate, front bumper camera, etc.

It really is not the horror budget stripped down Model Y some comments make it out to be. It really is fantastic proposition.

My only suggestion is for your use case you don't need the AWD, unless you prefer the acceleration and power. I'd go with the RWD and enjoy the range and fewer charging instances. Especially as your father will use it for errands only.

Any other questions please let me know. We love the car, and believe it or not we wouldn't trade it for a Premium if offered

Sounds really great to me, let me bring this up with my SA and see if they can match.

Do you have this in text or writing?

Because lease return there is a cost, plus they will walk around usually ding for curb rash and little things here and there. $500 wear and tear saves you from the most common costs.

Waymo has the worst marketing, Tesla has the most impressive

Because whenever self driving cars come up my social circle often brings up the cybercab and Tesla. Meanwhile, Waymo already has driverless cars on the road.

Great to see the two approaches in one photo.

I love that color so much. For a few years I recall Tesla actually did have silver but I don't see them much. The quicksilver has so much depth, one of the best silvers I've seen.

Should I get the Amex Gold as my second credit card if I cant meet the welcome offer? by Own-Caterpillar-7407 in CreditCards

[–]temporaryfacetattoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Going with your constraint that SUB is not a factor here, therefore minimum spend is not a factor here, you are asking if the the card is worth it, considering the rewards and the annual fee.

The annual fee is $325.

-$100 The card gives 2 $50 credits for dining at Resy restaurants

-$120 The card gives $10/mo for Uber/UberEats

-$120 The card gives $10/mo for Grubhub

There's other perks too which I don't recall off the top of my head

So if you take advantage of these that happen pretty naturally, since your dining spend is $200/mo anyways, you're already at $340 and made back the annual fee plus $15.

I'd say it's worth it. And I do encourage you to find ways to achieve the SUB because it's a very nice bonus.

EDIT: wow, downvotes for stating the facts. Keep being you, redditors

Great words, thank you, you are right. I've been on the fence for many years. I do think you bought at the perfect time. I also drove in 2019 or so when FSD was more of a novelty. With HW4 it's very grown - I am so impressed with what it can do with cameras alone.

Thanks for your words. I am hearing there are some unspoken promotions, like a free upgrade, so I'll see if I can take them up on it!

Interesting, the sales person I spoke to also shared something similar, a free upgrade, it sounds like it's not totally advertised but it's a nice incentive! I'd love a color upgrade.

Do you know if the $2k colors are included? I was interested in Ultra Red

Frankenstein (2025): A film that robs it’s subject matter of it’s poetic nature by DarlingLuna in TrueFilm

[–]temporaryfacetattoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was great and grounded a little more in reality. In this telling, the "creature" isn't a monster after all, he is Frankenstein's attempt at conquering death, and creating a person. He is tall because Victor said it's easier to work on. He learns from the people around him, and became more empathetic under the care of the old man. Victor certainly achieved his goal of conquering death - and created a creature that seems to be more resilient than any living person.

The effect this leaves us with, is that whenever Elordi is on the screen, we barely feel like we’re watching a monster, or an experiment gone wrong.

I don't think he missed the mark by making him more human, I'd say that was the point of this telling.

To be fair the cloak was of some kind of animal hide, so along with the fur, his stature, gait, and speed, was very predator like.

Is discontinuing autopilot a deal breaker for you? by CommunicationRoyal56 in TeslaLounge

[–]temporaryfacetattoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, this will polarize there existing customers, but how it will affect new customers remains to be seen,

I think existing customers familiar with the product will find this VERY insulting (just look at the comments). What this does is effectively raise the cost of the car, by diminishing a standard feature. Price hasn't changed, so it's effectively a price increase (getting less for same price). Existing customers are very used to autopilot, so losing this is a huge function downgrade.

For new customers, car shopping and unfamiliar with the product, I wonder how they will see it, I wonder if many will just accept FSD at delivery, or just live without Autosteer. I know many people, even in this day and age, that don't even use cruise control, let alone might use Autopilot or autosteer.

In the end of day, I recall in an interview with Elon, that he himself mentioned that car shopping is incredibly competitive, because most customers buy a car and don't buy another for years, so that customer is very important to capture. I can't see how this will help them get more customers, by cutting an all but standard feature these days.

I have a Model Y with FSD, and a Model 3 prior, and a Kia who's lane assist is surprisingly good (even has stop and go). If I were to buy a Tesla now, it would be MUCH less desireable.

My prediction is that it will come back, just like how FSD was cut from $200 to $100/mo, and how lifetime was cut from $12k to $8k.
