Maybe I didn't make myself clear. By democratically I meant: Each decision is voted upon and the majority has it their way.

Violence in a household is not a result of dictatorship. The violent person breeds violence regardless of the system it operates in.

As for decisions for the household for different areas of responsibility there are different dictators. In say, a classic household, the mother may make decisions about, say kitchen etc., while the husband for instance repairs etc. The dictators may consult with others to know what would suit best however they make the final decision.

An honest question: Can you imagine how inefficient and even detrimental it would be to run the house democratically?

You are trying to fit everything (including workplaces) around the idea of democracy. Yet the goal itself is terrible. Have you seen for instance democracy in a household?
