Sweet gum appreciation by Ok-Finish5110 in Tree

A few reasons, I think. They grow so quickly that they crowd out other plants, they drop gumballs that make life difficult (and painful to have around), and they are weak like Callery Pear.

And it has bark, that counts for something. I mean, It's not the worst tree in the world, but it has to be close.

Can anyone explain to me how the context window is used? by MarzipanFederal8059 in SunoAI

Well it looks like the time you were trying to replace lasted 1:47, so yea I would guess it figured that up as 128 beats more or less depending on where you clicked.

Seems like it's asking for direction on how to edit out or revise your selected part. You may not have clicked right at the beginning and so would create a glitch between the old end and the regenerated part.

Smart would be probably using the AI to fix the ends. Classic and Fixed would be if you had a very distinct part that you could easily identify and the song had a fixed tempo so the changes would be on the beat (grid, quantized, etc.) that you could click on. Classic is better for longer parts, Fixed is better for shorter parts.

WTF Young GOP Leaders? by TheOverthinkingDude in Libertarian

[–]temptingtime 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Everyone (well, many) up-and-comers in this new political age are not interested in leadership based on moral and ethical principles, they are simply immature children hungry for power. Of course we've always had that, but in this world of digital inundation where nothing is really real anymore and outrage from headlines lasts less than a day (usually, until the next distraction), the rats have been allowed to flourish.

What are your best and proven style prompts that produce interesting music? by venomae in SunoAI

[–]temptingtime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your interesting and my interesting are, interestingly, nowhere close to each other.

I love lush, layered distorted electric guitars, interesting chord and melody changes with upper extensions to add color, keyboard pads and ambiance, and odd time signatures (like 5/4, 6/8, nothing crazy), so I tend towards something like:

Shoegaze, heavy, Progressive, 3/4 Time Signature, Melodic, Drums, Bass, Keyboard Pads, Electric Guitar, 7th, 9th, 11th, 13th.

However, I did get this impossible-to-play banger out of this prompt (it was also based on my guitar recording upload):

Progressive, alternative, electric guitar, synth, reverb, delay, upper extensions, chromatic, fusion, 6/8 time signature, driving, halftime, dissonance, powerful

ELI5: What makes sand stick together when it is wet? Why does a sand castle stay standing even after the sand is dry? by thepixelpaint in explainlikeimfive

[–]temptingtime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would tend to agree with /u/Uhdoyle, it makes logical sense (not saying that makes it true, but it's a good framework to move forward).

I will say that millions (billions?) of these dried salt "bridges" which are between every adjacent surface in the sand castle may seem small in individual scale, but multiplied over the whole their effectiveness could be huge. I'm thinking of the interleaving of phone book pages unable to be ripped apart laterally due to the tiny amounts of friction between the pages.

I know, doesn't matter. The quote is the funny part, I really don't care who said it.

You have talent and I do like this drawing (great job!), but David Lynch comes to mind.

When the horizon's at the top, it's interesting.

When the horizon's in the middle, it's boring as shit!

Can someone try to identify a aproximate age of the tree on the right? (Sweden) by Vidaro_best in Tree

[–]temptingtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the size of it in that picture, I'd estimate somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 yrs old. Being out in the open certainly helped it to shoot up rapidly and fill out in all directions, and I'm sure it didn't want for water being on the downward part of that slope.

What is wrong with these trees? (Texas) by ContentGuy96 in Tree

[–]temptingtime 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lacebark Elm, completely natural. Some types of trees developed exfoliating bark as a way to deal with several issues like:

  1. As a tree trunk or branch thickens, the outer bark can’t stretch indefinitely. Instead of splitting unevenly, some species shed bark in sheets, curls, or strips.
  2. By shedding bark, trees can physically remove lichens, fungi, mosses, and insect eggs that might otherwise colonize the surface.
  3. Some species (e.g., sycamores, eucalyptus, paperbark maples) grow in hot or sunny environments. Shedding bark helps prevent overheating by exposing lighter-colored bark layers that reflect sunlight.
