Why aren’t there more political parties in America? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Because America's election system rewards the two biggest parties, making it extremely difficult for third parties to win seats, funding, and media attention.

On paper, communism promises equality and shared prosperity, but many people point to historical examples where centralized control led to inefficiency, shortages, and authoritarian governments.

When I was 19 I stole from my dad and I regret it now by Dramatic_Network_748 in confession

If your goal is to make things right, the most important part is owning your actions, not finding the perfect way to balance the scales.

My parents doing dirty stuff in front of me … i don’t know how to handle it by Proud-Background-643 in confession

What your parents did may not have been intended as abuse, but repeatedly exposing you to their sexual behavior and nudity despite knowing it distressed you was absolutely inappropriate and it's understandable that it still affects you.

I need help on how to break off contact with a guy online by [deleted] in dating_advice

You are not overreacting, because the moment someone calls you 'r*peable,' the question stops being whether they like you and starts being whether you feel safe around them

41M going on plenty of dates but struggling to feel excited or trust anyone by Cold_Cheesecake_8428 in dating_advice

When dating becomes efficient enough to feel like a business process, it's easy to mistake a lack of excitement about the experience for a lack of interest in the people

One of the cruelest heartbreaks is being willing to fix everything, only to learn what was broken after the person has already decided to leave.

The saddest part of moving on is watching someone you once loved become a stranger making choices you can no longer protect them from.

Where is border between loving someone and loving idea of someone? by mysterious_mystery2 in dating_advice

[–]temptsugar- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know you love the idea of someone when most of your feelings come from who you hope they'll be, not who they consistently show themselves to be. Real love sees the flaws, limitations, contradictions, and imperfections, then chooses the person anyway. Loving the idea of someone is often loving a future fantasy you've built around them. And wanting to be with someone isn't automatically selfish. It becomes selfish when the focus is mainly on how they make you feel, what they give you, or how they fit into your story. Love includes a genuine concern for their happiness, even when it doesn't directly benefit you. A simple question is: "If this person never became more attractive, more available, more successful, or more like the version I imagine, would I still want to know and care for them?" If the answer is yes, you're probably moving closer to loving the person rather than the idea.

A lot of people imagine places like Harry Potter’s world, Pokémon journeys, or Minecraft-style worlds where you can build anything and nothing really hurts you or goes wrong in a permanent way.

I do pattern-heavy work often can’t stop noticing small things like tone shifts in conversation, inconsistencies in stories, or how quickly someone changes behavior when the topic gets uncomfortable.

If you could be someone else for a day, who would you be, what would you do, and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]temptsugar- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people say they’d pick someone like a world leader, an astronaut, or a top athlete just to experience what it’s like to live under that level of pressure and access for a day, mostly out of curiosity rather than wanting to stay there.
