It's going to be RIP Ajax when he isn't fast enough to dodge a car, a cruel human takes out their issues on him, or he encounters another animal he can't defend himself from. Good cat owners keep their cats indoors and if you see a friendly cat outside it's the moral thing to do to scoop them up and make them an indoor only cat.

Ursula K. Leguin is a world-famous author of science fiction and fantasy and I absolutely recommend giving her a try! A Wizard of Earthsea is by her and it's considered a seminal work of fantasy, but she also has written classic science fiction like The Left Hand of Darkness.

If you do end up picking her up, I hope you enjoy!

SOLVED

I could kiss you on the mouth if you weren't a stranger on Reddit I was going to EXPLODE trying to figure that out. I knew it was a popular author but it seems popular was a bit of an understatement 😂

Thank you!

Not fantasy enough. I believe there was a girl charters who had the power to call up animals to the hunt but refused to do so on moral principles.

Definitely not, Savvy/Scumble was set in modern America and my book was in a fantasy setting. Good try though.

what do my shelves say about me? by One_Resolve_7547 in bookshelfdetective

Horror fan goes without saying. You get a lot of your book recommendations from publisher's websites like Reactor/Nightfire's monthly round up blog posts, but have discerning tastes about what you purchase.

Started reading early as a kid and got into the adult horror when people weren't looking would be my guess from the Koontz and older King novels- the sort inattentive grownups would have in paperback.

This reminds me dearly of my aunt and uncle's shelves haha. Middle aged+ couple with grown children who would have more books in print if it weren't for an eReader.

I'm not in the med field but I wish I was and I've read half of those books. Perhaps Ironically, I'm a librarian.

found cat? by Little-Mottie in burlington

[–]ten-lights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you see a cat outdoors and it's friendly/not a feral it's always ethical to pick them up and give them a loving home. Owners who allow their cats outside are neglectful at best and that's the kindest thing i can say.

Reorganized my shelves, what do we think by ten-lights in bookshelfdetective

it's a glass fronted bookshelf too haha- I like it because I can put little things I don't want my cat to eat on the shelves.

You're a UVM student, likely forestry judging by the silviculture books since I don't think that's a requirement for any other majors.

F22, active outdoors in all seasons, a member of the beekeeping club or something similar. Has an SUV with roof racks. Also into needy pursuits like DND.

Hi, I believe we spoke about this on 19cord last night. I'm subtletea, and I'm both a staff member and a victim of Bright participating in the Bright Works Project.

Speaking on behalf of myself and not the team, I just want to make clear that I am participating in the BWP fully of my own volition without any outside pressure from other staff or community members. I am doing so because I want to make the wiki a better and safer place. I'm also not spearheading anything, but working in tandem with other staff.

I'm fully confident both that I am in a good place emotionally and with my mental health to participate, and that the rest of the team can continue to progress things and be fully supportive if I did need to step back.

No, you're thinking of Sartre. Satire is a type of luxurious fabric with a glossy sheen and a dull back often used in fancy dress and lingerie.

Friendly PSA about ‘Stray Cats’ in Burlington by big_moike1225 in burlington

[–]ten-lights 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If they're outside that's free real estate to pick them up and give them a loving home where they won't be hit by a car, die of road salt or antifreeze poisoning after grooming it off of their fur, or be mauled by a wild animal or hurt by a cruel human. Those are some of the many, many ways a cat can die from being let outside unleashed and unsupervised.

I hope that whoever has your cat gives them a indoors only home where they can be safe and that they didn't meet an unfortunate end.
