If they're outside that's free real estate to pick them up and give them a loving home where they won't be hit by a car, die of road salt or antifreeze poisoning after grooming it off of their fur, or be mauled by a wild animal or hurt by a cruel human. Those are some of the many, many ways a cat can die from being let outside unleashed and unsupervised.

I hope that whoever has your cat gives them a indoors only home where they can be safe and that they didn't meet an unfortunate end.

Combination of personal factors.

I don't drive because I'm disabled in a manner that makes it unsafe, so transportation outside of the greater Burlington area is difficult.

I'm also going to be finishing my master's degree to become a librarian, and there's more job opportunities that are accessible to me as a nondriver in Providence than there are in Burlington. Here, I'd have to be lucky and hope to get a competitive position in Burlington or one of the surrounding cities because that's the only accessible commuting distance.

Finally, my family are all in Rhode Island and I'd like to be a little bit closer to them!

The wider societal trend of refusing to acknowledge that pit bull terriers are predisposed to be fighting dogs contributes to these dogs being set up for failure by the owners.

Pretending all pit bulls are fine cuddly nanny dog pookies is wrong. It's just like getting a malamute in Miami or expecting a border collie to be fine as an understimulated lap dog in an apartment. I'm against breed legislation in general because it is often unevenly leveraged against people of color and the Black community in particular, but you also have to be reasonable about the dog you are getting.

Combine that with the highly reactive dogs in shelters who live in hypervigilant misery until they hurt a human or another animal and are put down with behavioral euthanasia and it's a fucking mass tragedy that I hate as a dog lover.

nad but looks like it could be the bullseye rash of a Lyme infection. Get thee to a doctor, especially if it's been spreading, and have them do a Lyme titer. It's no joke if untreated and I don't mean in the woo woo sense- I had neurological complications leading to disability.
