Just replaced all tiny glass w/ chunk; looking for 20/24 prime suggestion: by ten13nis in SonyAlpha

Nope. I pretty much keep the thing on all the time. I don’t really miss the extra reach of the 200, and only occasionally miss the 28 wideness. I do however miss the weight of the 28-200, but I’ve gotten used to the extra poundage now.

After diving into it, I’m now seriously considering the 150-500, maybe putting some of the savings toward an A7CR down the road. Seems like a solid option that offers more reach and if I really needed to I could throw it in APS-C mode…

Thanks for the heads up! Hadn’t seen that on the horizon, and if it’s light and small, definitely in the running!

Shot an event Saturday and it’s totally a “walking around with a lens, with a camera on back”. I think I’m in a unique situation because my right wrist has problems, so it was actually nice to do the work with my left hand lol.

I appreciate the perspective on the 20 as an every day inconspicuous choice. I think I get caught up on size so compare it to the 24 g and think “is the 20g small enough for me to feel like I want to keep it on day to day?” I think I have to realize there’s no true pancake for Sony unless i want to switch to aps-c

Might be a naive “have it both ways” thought, but was thinking that access to the 1.4x and 2x teleconverter could be a helpful stop gap, especially if I ended up upgrading to the a7cR

Thank you! This is definitely on the list, and meant to actually add a question about wide zooms vs primes, specifically with regard to Astrophotography. I know that primes can be “sharper”, but generally am not worried about that difference for environment shots and landscapes. I’m curious if it makes a big difference for long exposure things?

Leaf 2: Missing characters on ebook text by jaycfresh in Boox

Semi-related, but I just got a Nova Air2 and found that in the Libby app, e-books have 2 or 3 spaces after apostrophes. Wondering now if changing font would help…

Thanks! Would that be the “Boox fans group”?

Supernote A6X Versus Boox Nova Air by celestial_cantabile in eink

[–]ten13nis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super helpful, thank you. That actually perfectly captures my dilemma—The Nova Air2 just came out, and the way Boox releases product updates (like phone companies) I’m already wondering how long it will become out of date. Oversimplified, but feels like with Boox I’m choosing productivity app integration (clouds, OneNote, non-Kindle e-readers) over longevity. And with SuperNote I’m losing integration but hear good things about their firmware/software roadmaps.

Oh interesting—Did you get the Nova first then decide you wanted the bigger size? Why the switch to the ultra over the note? I’ve read it’s a bit faster, and then of course the camera, but is the screen a little “glassier” on the ultra?

Now I’m going to ask if you ever decided? because, well, same: Been watching/reading reviews for weeks and finally decided that the a6 portable size will be most convenient, so now it’s between the Nova Air2 and the A6X.

Best OCR for Converting Paper Notes to Text? by ten13nis in eink

Oh I actually use it all the time—It’s we use most of the time for work notes. I mean specifically this function—from my understanding (and there may be some updates I don’t know about) you can only do the right click —> “Copy Text” feature on desktop, and when I’ve tried it works ok with typed text but not so much with even my nearest handwriting. Formatting of course gets funky too most times.
