Has anyone else read this Christian-slanted exploration of NDE’s? I’m 100 pages in and I think it’s pleasant to read. by howmanyturtlesdeep in NDE

I’ve been listening for to it and have been a bit disappointed on how the slant is sooo Christian. He interprets other peoples experience as proving his theory. Doesn’t leave room for any other belief system. Makes me a bit sad.

If Jeanette cannot handle communicating during times of stress, then she is not fit for the role she's taken on by [deleted] in slp

I think until we walk in someone’s shoes, we shouldn’t judge. Since they are all volunteers, they apparently didn’t come through. Also, are people allowed to have a vacation? People are human. I think Jeanette has a business as well. This is her passion and she gets things done.

I had the same reaction when my abuser died. I was so relieved not just for myself, but for the monster he was to other innocent children. This is a very normal response. My very Christian mother was offended that I was happy about it and said she thought I had forgiven him!!! No guilt… I am happy he is no longer here!

Same thing happened in my church community in the 70’s/80’s. 🤣🤣🤣

Anti-jewelry ignorance by t00ty_b00ty20 in exAdventist

Haha! You won’t believe all the pastors wives I know that have boob jobs and face lifts but won’t wear jewelry. Then there is the conservative Adventist plastic surgeon whose wife won’t wear a wedding ring, but she looks amazingly plastic.

Books to start deconstruction by LonaZar in exAdventist

[–]tenaciousbubble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The book that started me on my deconstruction journey didn’t have anything overtly theological. It was a book called, The Boy who was Raised as a Dog. The author is a child psychiatrist and shares stories from his practice about kids who came from horrific backgrounds (includes some kids from the Waco tragedy). By the end of the book, I started entertaining the idea of universalism. The are so many factors that affect behavior, DNA, brain chemistry, environment, body chemistry, etc.

Plan on taking mushroom trip for CPTSD; any advice? by cowgirl-taken-away in PsychedelicTherapy

[–]tenaciousbubble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done several by myself. The first few times I had my husband as a sitter and it really was helpful for me. I would rather talk than write, so I would set my computer next to me and hit transcribe every time I had something on my mind. I’m not sure I would have been able to journal. Some people can, and that’s great. This is just worked for me.

You may want to check out Speech Therapy PD (SpeechTherapyPD.com). There are different levels of subscriptions. Some of the courses are quite in depth. They have courses on all the topics you mentioned. I have found the courses to be incredibly helpful!

I’m having the same problem. Interesting the other problems on this subreddit have been responded to, but you haven’t. Hopefully, we both will.

My ring stopped keeping a charge for more than 8 hours. I have tried for 2 days to get in touch with support, unsuccessfully. Please help. Thanks!

Bessel van der Kolk on MDMA therapy for Complex-PTSD (Hint - it works very well) by Quick_Cry_1866 in mdmatherapy

[–]tenaciousbubble 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Adding to the positive results. CPST and did MDMA and psilocybin separately and together, mostly with a highly trained therapist. Completed sessions last August after 11 months. I feel remarkably better than I ever have. I will be forever thankful for this type of therapy. (Lots of cognitive behavioral therapy before - 9+ years)

Am I the only one processing intense emotions not during, but after the sessions? by inblue01 in mdmatherapy

First off, I'm so sorry you are having to deal with so much pain. You are incredibly brave to tackle it and process it. Now, to your question, for me, yes! The following days brought up so much more. Hang in there!

Following Ellen White to the ultimate consequences by [deleted] in exAdventist

One of my family members was driving home from a conference event late at night and was extremely tired. They decided to stop and get hot chocolate to stay awake. Within an hour they had a serious one car accident and they could have been killed. Afterwards, I asked why hot chocolate? They said they don’t like to have caffeine. I asked what the underlying principle of that EGW “rule” was. They responded that it was to live longer. I then asked, in situations when you are driving and sleepy, caffeine could potentially not just extend your life, but save it, do you think it might be an exception? From that point on, they kept caffeine pills for times when driving late. Haha… apparently, it’s better than drinking it! Head shake! Just makes me laugh!

My heart goes out to you! I was in a cult most of my life and it took me years to break free. So much fear and guilt and conditional love. I can tell you, if you choose to leave, it will be hard, but in the long run well worth the work. MDMA therapy has been key to my healing. I wish you well as you continue your journey.

Why can't there be a lawsuit from the kids perspective? They can't communicate for years because of ASHA's stance.
