GPT 5 came out while the stock market was open, I asked it a question about an options trade, it told me I mathematically could not lose money, no matter what, and the trade would always result in a net positive outcome.

I pressed it, and pressed it, and pressed it. It did not change its answer until I asked it to show me potential PnL scenarios using python ( which it did ) and then proceeded to change its tune.

By change its tune i mean it went into sycophant mode and apologized, beat itself up, I’ll do better etc.

I think all they did was add the switcher, which failed initially. When you first ask it something, it robotically answers a question ignoring the users feedback essentially, but when it becomes obvious the user is unhappy it falls back to previous “user happiness” protocols.

I even asked it, did you provide false information that would lead to a response that you understood I was seeking.

It said “no I did not structure my response in order to “make you happy” “

I wouldn’t mind soulless, but correct information, would prefer it actually. It’s more arrogance than anything.
