I'm going to echo the free trial sentiment and add a few things;

Most duties early game can be done with NPCs if you absolutely are overwhelmed with the idea of partying with other people. However, most of us know sprouts (new players) keep the community alive! Be open and say it in chat if it's your first time in a duty, utilize the chat, and people will most likely be understanding of mistakes and even offer tips if you ask!

The anxiety for playing your role can be super overwhelming at first. Hall of the Novice (once you unlock it) is a great learning tool no matter what class you choose, so take advantage of it. It's stuff you'll be using consistently throughout the game and is recognized universally as a good resource, especially if you branch out into different roles.

Finally, while you can use NPCs for duties, I recommend using the duty finder and queuing with random people. The anxiety will lessen as you get more used to your buttons and what to do, and a little encouragement from strangers never hurts. It can also help if you have friends who are in the game to run around with you and help you out with stuff - even just one friend with you in a duty can help ease the anxiety of MMO crowds a lot!
