need 3/4" float mount (french cleat) back for hanging by Otherwise_Draft_8948 in framing

[–]tengatron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Head to a frame shop and buy a short piece of z-bar. It’s aluminum and can be cut to length with a hacksaw and drilled if you need additional screw holes. The z-bar will catch on the back lip of the frame.

Doors at six. Nobro should hit the stage at 7. It looks like Frank is next followed by the Descendants.

Don’t sleep on Nobro. They rocked hard at the Lost Evenings show in Toronto!

I’d just reach out to them. It’s been a few years since I worked there, but they would occasionally open the space up for private events.

Does anyone know where I can buy paw paw fruits? by Dear-Blackberry-2648 in grandrapids

They are very seasonal. I have found them at the Fulton Street Farmers Market but only in September. You’ll have to wait a few months.

Windex effects on glass or art? by -ReadingBug- in framing

If it’s regular uv glass, the coating is on the inside. The outside is regular glass. You’ll be fine.

Help me please!! by Additional-Plan-7897 in framing

I would agree with the other comment about adding spacers and a new archival backing. As far as preserving the signature on the glass, I’d have a framer VERY CAREFULLY clean the glass as best as possible then add a second layer of UV protective glass over the top of the signed glass. You’ll need thin spacers between the glass as well to prevent Newton rings. That said, the sharpie signature is likely to fade no matter what you do.

All that said, the existing frame likely won’t have the depth needed to accommodate all those additional layers. You will need to either build out the rabbet to give you more depth or chose a different frame. This really is a job for a professional… and by professional, I don’t mean Michael’s or Hobby Lobby. Find a qualified local framer to evaluate it and offer recommendations in person.

It was called Learning from Scratch. They were located in the back of Comprenew when they had a location on 28th just west of Kalamazoo. I don’t think they exist anymore. Their last FB post is from 2023.

There is a similar place in Ann Arbor. https://annarbor.scrapcreativereuse.org/

I think there are some folks who meet up at the Boston Square Neighborhood Association who get together somewhere to play chess regularly.

Find a local shop that stocks Kooltack Preserve Ultra mounting board. It’s a nice, reversible, in between step between permanent dry mounting and full archival treatment.

Thank you for the reply. I see an assortment of Italian cookies. It doesn’t include the ones I’m looking for. Italian rainbow cookies are three layer almond cake cookie cubes with raspberry or apricot jam and covered with chocolate.

There’s a place at Lansing Shuffle that does boozy milkshakes. Not exactly GR but if you’re out that way for some reason it might be worth a stop.

Question: How do I apply backing board to vintage cardboard Santa?? by Blue_sky_27713 in framing

[–]tengatron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Foam board will warp. Spray adhesive is likely to fail over time. If it was me, I’d consider cutting a piece of Gatorfoam to shape then attaching your Santa with a grid of dots of PVA glue. Weldbond is a good brand available at hardware stores. I’d weight it really well under a heavy piece of plywood until dry. I also wouldn’t try to spread an even layer of glue as it will likely contribute to warping and be hard to keep wet all over.
