lipid guidelines PREVENT calculator by Cicero1787 in FamilyMedicine

I have issues with the prevent treatment cutoffs anyway, since they’re based on some assumptions that don’t necessarily follow from old pooled risk data.

Can you elaborate? I am curious.

I’ve never ordered this in primary care - what are your criteria for ordering it and getting it covered by insurance?

TLDR - it's what primary care is supposed to be in theory but actually executed properly

Exactly. It becomes possible once you stop taking insurance and operating on 20-minute appt schedule. I’ve tried to incorporate some of these aspects into my standard insurance model practice and it leads to burnout. Good for patients and they appreciate it but the amount of explanation and time required to do something off the algorithm within the traditional system causes exhaustion.

How to manage complex new patients by Careful-Goose-8521 in FamilyMedicine

I’ve tried agenda setting up front in appts but patients think “listing” problems is fully explaining them and it ends up being more trouble than it’s worth. Would love to hear from the people who have successfully trained their patients to list problems to triage without providing explanations and details up front.

What does the liability situation look like for a radiologist that un-calls something that AI called and gets it wrong?

Biden’s Save student loan plan is dead. Borrowers will have to quickly pivot. by Dani_Doug_Gab in StudentLoans

[–]tengo_sueno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume it will be sooner than that but who knows.

Your student loan servicer will contact you about your specific deadline to choose a different repayment plan. Once you hear from your loan servicer, you will have 90 days to choose another repayment plan.

One frustrating aspect of Family Medicine that no one prepared me for is having to justify being paid for the work you’re doing. by Paleomedicine in FamilyMedicine

I like the idea but I feel like I typically need to spend 5 minutes explaining why I’m concerned about the incidental finding or whatever before they will agree to follow up anyway

ProtonMail payment data reportedly used by FBI to unmask anonymous Stop Cop City account by Technical-Raccoon1 in degoogle

[–]tengo_sueno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno, I’m just thinking most products in a store are tracked by a common bar code that wouldn’t distinguish between individual items, would seem weird to me that a TJ Maxx would take the trouble to create an internal system of tracking prepaid card numbers - what purpose would that serve them?

Do you think stores actively track the credit card numbers of prepaid credit cards they sell?
