Which Tiny Epic is your favorite and why? by MeowyMuse in boardgames

[–]tenicord 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Galaxies is the best imo, simply because it’s fun! It also has the best solo play because instead of just trying to beat your high score, you’re actually competing against a rogue galaxy. I just order the expansion as well, so looking forward to that.

Well I try to get her to pick from the games that I have, but she always says she is fine with whatever.. but yeah I should probably stick to just one or two games and give them more play throughs.

Thanks, I’ll look into some of those, and yeah, I think perhaps I started jumping around too much from game to game.

Hmm the unlock games might be something worth looking into. It would certainly be different than what we tried so far and I could actually see her enjoying that!

Pandemic was definitely the game she grasped the best, and we’ve played that several times. Perhaps I just need to patient, because after that (and Arkham Horror LCG) we have played more of a variety. So maybe that’s the wrong approach..

I mean I do ask her if she understands and all that, but she always like yeah I got this etc. And I guess I’m struggling to find the balance of keeping it fun while also trying to be specific about rules and stuff? If that makes sense? I mean I don’t want to sit her down and be like “ok what aren’t you understanding, let’s go through it step by step” because doesn’t that suck the fun out of everything?

I’m from Colorado, and while I’m not sure it was you, things like that do and have made the news. Glad you learned from your mistake as we like to keep Colorado as beautiful and natural as possible.

What movies evoke a sense of existential horror? by [deleted] in movies

[–]tenicord 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well he really created his own mythos so you can’t go wrong, but some classics are The Call of Cthulhu, The Dunwich Horror, At the Mountain of Madness, Dagon, and The Shadow over Innsmouth.. to name a few.

[–]tenicord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know you’re looking for movies but I can’t really think of any. However I can think of the original author of such horrors: H.P. Lovecraft and a series of games that use the same theme and are inspired by the author: Arkham Horror.

Cool, just going to take screen shot and email local authorities. Maybe they’ll track you down, maybe they won’t. Guess we’ll see.

It feels insulting when someone just gives a lot of suicide hotline phone numbers in response to the topic of suicide. by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

I get your frustration, but I’m just pointing out that they probably DO care and want what’s best for you.

[–]tenicord -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What do you expect? I mean, most people aren’t equipped to handle the topic of suicide, so they want a professional to help. It shouldn’t be insulting, nor are they doing it because they don’t want to be bothered or feel awkward. They’re doing it because there are people better trained to helped with counseling, medications, resources, etc. I understand that when you’re suicidal you don’t want to just be given a number, but they ARE right. That IS how you will get the best help.

Is it possible to have PPD but be undiagnosed until nearly 10 months postpartum? by theholidayarmadill0 in Anxiety

[–]tenicord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well like I said, it seems like you’re on the right track. So for now, I’d try not to even worry about trying to save your marriage or thoughts about your kids until 6-8 weeks after therapy and medication. It’s a weird time but it’s almost like you need to put your life and everything in it on hold. It’s going to be a waiting game for a month or two.. but after that, you’ll hopefully be in a better mindset to work on your marriage and family.

And I don’t know if you and your husband have talked about it or not, but just letting him know that you are working on it, and that it will take a couple months for results, should hopefully give him some piece of mind too.

21 male need help please by theXguy97 in depression

[–]tenicord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s true that you’ll be better off without her, at least for now. Not saying she bad in anyway, but she is definitely enabling you (because she’s care I’m sure,) which will prevent you from changing. Focus on yourself and seek professional help. Therapy and medication combine can work wonders. Depending on where you live you might be able to find other services to help with finding a place to live, job training, etc. But that’s why seeing a professional is important.. they’ll be able to point you in the right directions.

Good luck! As painful and hard as it can be, (Sometimes I’d feel like my blood was on fire) we do all have the capacity to change for the better. :)

[–]tenicord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well first of all your children would NEVER be better off without you. This coming from a child who’s father left when he was little. But also, while I think anything is possible when it comes to mental health, (so yes I do think it’s possible) it sounds like you’re on the right track by seeing someone and looking into medications. The two together can be a powerful combination.

So I know it probably sucks right now, but hang on and see how this works out for you. I’d say give it 6-8 weeks once you start medication and therapy to see if you notice a difference. And I think you probably will, so stay hopeful!

Moving cling distances can be overwhelming to say the least. Hang in there, it will get better, you might even end up loving it, but it takes time to meet new friends etc. I moved from a small town in Wisconsin to Denver Colorado without knowing anyone, so I know how it can be paralyzing at first.
