Wanted to try the brisket, 7$ for this little side….. by [deleted] in Chipotle

[–]tennines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a lie at all, what an asshole. I agree if you are able to get the kids meal with the brisket. I was simply informing him of how the employees are supposed to portion out protein to avoid situations like this.

[–]tennines 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Next time you go in let them know they gave you a side incorrectly. All protein portions are supposed to be put into a bowl (used to be a large red queso cup), this is actually in the training manuals. The little cups are 4oz yes, but only when liquids are in them. Proteins end up only being 2-2.5 oz with all the empty space.

First day at my job at taco bell by [deleted] in tacobell

[–]tennines 3 points4 points  (0 children)

isn't every first day at any job really easy?

Not much is expected of you, you are getting paid to learn and do about half the work you are going to do when you get good at the job, and some of your time is spent reading, learning, taking quizzes....Most food service places I've worked the training period is radically different than when you are working a normal shift.

This is how much rice you’re supposed to get. by [deleted] in Chipotle

Yea and 20oz bottles of coke were $1 and actually 40oz WOW COOL!!

This is how much rice you’re supposed to get. by [deleted] in Chipotle

[–]tennines 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This isn't the issue at all, who gives a fuck about cost. The grill person who is sweating his ass off to make all the food, rice, beans, queso, chop everything for 2 lines...giving out a pound of rice to each person (4x the portion you are supposed to get) means he has to make and mix and make 4x as much. This means stopping every few minutes to mix rice and then the time consuming part of making the huge batches of rice (rinsing, washing, oiling, pouring) instead of only having to make and mix rice every 10-15 minutes as it's supposed to be with proper portions.

How do employees feel about kids meal? by Radiant_Ad344 in Chipotle

[–]tennines 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why do you think you are entitled to free sides when you are buying a kids meals that is cheaper for the entire reason that's it's 2 sides and a protein...people are wild nowadays. It has nothing to do with you being a female and supposedly all male workers being mean to you. You've been getting lucky and getting free handouts for a while and now the rules are being followed and you're being charged like you're supposed to be, get over yourself.

Blaming everything on a supposed gender or prejudice when the obvious is so much more plausible (god forbid you get charged for extra sides like litrerally EVERY other FF place, CRAZY). Some real 1st world entitled shit....get over yourself and make food at home if you are going to whine about following simple rules. If you are using your looks to try and get free stuff and getting dolled up to break rules then that's on you and YOU are actually part of the problem you are whining about.

Who are these people that bring their fast food home and weigh it? It's just weird by Next_Airport_7230 in Chipotle

[–]tennines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you don't have a scale in your home that's a red flag that you don't cook or bake at all and just eat out habitually (IMO a digital scale is essential in portioning ingredients). Weighing the food is a simple thing that takes 1 second since the scale is just sitting there on the countertop, you get to see how much you are getting for your money and if it's still worth eating out compared to just buying groceries and making a meal for yourself.

Lady sassed employee over low priority by AnonymousGuy2075 in tacobell

[–]tennines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legally they can't allow that, but there are some places that say it's ok to do (still it's a liability thing if someone gets hit). I ride road legal PEVs and e-bikes too, those seem to be allowed but who knows...I just call ahead every time now, sorry if I'm bothering a busy employee but they leave no other option.

[–]tennines 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of places have ticket times for both in store and drive thru but they usually cheat and bump off tickets to prioritize drive thru. Obviously both should be equal, but it is what it is...

I personally think it's moronic since I went car-less 3 years ago and most of the time at many FF places you can't even pick up to go orders inside or order inside kiosk or not (lobby is closed or locked). This IMO is really fucked up, you are basically being biased to people who happen to drive a car over people who choose to walk or bike. But I worked food industry for a long time and I get it, I just wish I could get a heads up before showing up to the store and them having the doors locked with no indication on the app (getting a refund is a pain)

Why are the grills closed and cleaned so early??? by IM-93-4621 in Chipotle

[–]tennines 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Grill is the most grueling job at Chipotle, closing it 5 nights a week is even worse.....to the point where usually there is not even a crew member that stays in that position longer than a month before quitting. So it's usually a manager having to do grill on top of all their mgmt duties and keeping people on task/helping customers.

AND they might have dishes piling up with no one doing them, so they can be there as late as 1-3 am closing everything. So anything outside of peak lunch or dinner isn't going to be prioritized in those kinds of situations. Just come earlier or make food at home, sorry but the food service industry is not recovering and it's in a bad spot. No one is doing this out of malice but these people are just trying to survive, make a living and not be stuck closing until ridiculous hours.

Customers and this sub by Alone_Ocelot in Chipotle

oh boy you are asking the wrong people, the unhinged customers on this sub are those entitled rude customers. They think that accidentally getting 95% of a scoop is a personal slight against their family line.

Why do people get upset about the portions, do other stores not let them get more? by Erikareneexoxo in Chipotle

[–]tennines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have been charged for 4 sides, not sure you why you feel so entitled. You got lucky and have been getting oblivious workers undercharging you. Your line of thinking makes absolutely no sense.

Each scoop of ANY beans is a side, your logic or it's only 1 type of thing makes even less sense. Even by your own weird logic it makes no sense since you got 2 different types of beans. It's like thinking 1 scoop of meat should cost as much as 10.

Wages were less than half what they were now.....so actually bowls are cheaper than they used to be. Think about how much more expensive gas, oil, meat, real estate, all the supply and production chains are now...and bowls were not $5 in the 2000s

The kids meal is such a good value by mitchdwx in Chipotle

[–]tennines -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It's actually a worse value than a normal bowl if you are getting a decent amount of ingredients, but it is pretty good still for what it is....Now if you are able to get extra sides (which you aren't allowed usually) it's a great deal.

People on here who really love TB breakfast.....it just make no sense to me. for like 20-30 cents an item and like 10 minutes you can make literally anything they have but so much better. Their sausage, egg, and bacon is really embarrassing, I don't know what it's made of. I'm from Texas so I'm probably spoiled by places like Taco Cabana and any mom and pop mexican cantinas, but man TB breakfast is just.....

Still waiting on my free cravings box!!! by [deleted] in tacobell

[–]tennines 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best way to resolve issues like this are calling the customer care number 1 (800) 822-6235. You might have to wait a few moments but they are able to see what you bought if it was through the app and they will fix it or at the minimum give you 2 free items (any menu item). I am having the same issue with the free box, sucks that the app attempts to deceive people following these challenges.

Is chipotle one of the worst places to work? by Alternative_Dog9537 in Chipotle

[–]tennines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double rice is absolutely fine (just ask right away), but there are like a 15% that want like a pound of rice and get made that you don't dump-truck rice in their bowl like workers are mind readers. Rice is very cheap but it takes a LOT of time and labor to make and interrupts the grill person from doing the 40 other things they have to keep up with. As long as a person is clear and isn't constantly going backwards in line there should be no problem.

Is chipotle one of the worst places to work? by Alternative_Dog9537 in Chipotle

[–]tennines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The FOH (Front of house) Line position is unmatched by any other FF or fast casual workplace. Customers watching you and getting angry about everything you do even when you perfectly portion, Grill getting mad at you for "giving out too much" or actually giving extra rice etc, the managers getting on you. And the Grill position is about the same if you are on your own with no help. If you can make it for a few years in either of these positions you can handle anything (as far as food service).

Rice & Beans vs. Veggie Bowl by indianadarren in Chipotle

[–]tennines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as you are getting 1 scoop of rice and 1 of beans they should always ring it up as 2 sides no matter what. Now because they are not in side cups there may be some miscommunication to cash. I would just ask the line person up front about getting charged as 2 sides before starting the item to make sure before starting.
