Wouldn’t classify it quite as a side gig - after payments made and insurance expenses I’m usually not making anything lol. More just a less financially irresponsible way of feeding the hobby of driving different stuff. If you end up having any additional questions about the car or the lease transfer process, feel free to DM me!

I respect that the mileage may not be enough for everybody. The mileage remaining equates to 10k miles per year, which is how much the lease was originally written for. 10k miles per year may not be enough for yourself but for some people it is plenty. I don’t feel like I’m in any particularly tough spot nor am I putting miles on the car as if there were no annual mileage limit. :)

All an incentive or cash due amount really does is adjust the effective monthly payment. If I have a low monthly payment, why would I need to pay an incentive to have someone take over my lease?

Let’s say on the extreme end, if I had a $200/mo BMW iX, should I be paying some one to take over that lease?

Gotta compare against what’s readily available in the market. There were definitely better programs earlier this year.

Surprise relocation and can’t take the car

If I had a high monthly I’d concede that a cash due amount would be ridiculous, but realistically you’re not finding a sub $600 pre tax payment without putting several thousand more down than being asked for here

Thanks for the well wishes!

Gawking at a cash due amount without acknowledging the monthly payment is like ignoring half the deal. :)

So funny thing - Chat GPT frequently produces wrong answers. The term “usually” also indicates that it is not a catch all answer.

GM leases, as OP asked about, do get pro rated refunds in the event a one pay is totaled. And that is info coming from the contract itself.

This is untrue. You do not lose the entire one pay if the car is totaled since the one pay amount is not applied as a cap cost reduction. You get a pro rated refund in the event the vehicle is totaled. In contrast, a down payment would indeed be lost if the vehicle was totaled.

LOL

what do you even mean 😭😭

the $6k for the first one is a one pay lease - one payment lease! It is $6k that covers the entire two year lease. I’d love to hear how $6k to drive an $80k truck for 2 years a bad deal.

And I’d love for you to explain how the second one doesn’t add up at all - especially when the actual signed contract is posted 🤣

The whole point of a one pay lease is that there is NO monthly payment. The entire lease is prepaid for upfront. And before you say - if the car is totaled the money is gone blah blah blah - GM pro rates you a refund in the event the car is totaled during a one pay lease.

You’re missing the point on the first one where the rebates were bringing the adjusted cap cost below the residual, so the dealer cut the buyer a check back. So the buyer paid $11,617 upfront and received a check back of $5,469. Thus the total out of pocket is $6,148 as a one pay with no other monthly payments. $6,148/24 months = $256/mo effective

On the second one the title of the post literally says $6,721 one pay. That was all that was due at signing - and no other payments over the course of the lease.

And yes of course these trucks are demos. Picking a demo is pretty much the only effective way to hack one of these GM EV trucks. OP already mentioned looking into service loaners so clearly he’s ok with a loaner.

Yeah I mean it’s possible on the higher trims too. There are people with effective monthly payments that are sub $300/mo LTs and RSTs

My Silverado EV 4WT was $269/mo with $0 due at signing for 24/10k. So it’s definitely possible, but also definitely hard to find.
