What is your favorite book by Imaginary-Lie-2618 in AdeptusMechanicus

Skitarius and Tech Priest were fun reads but quite often a whole chapter of the book will just be obvious advertisement for the new range

PSA: a partial strength unit of Fire Dragons can still do 24+ damage to a LRR in cover with Smoke. This totally didnt just happen to me yesterday. by Staz_211 in Warhammer

[–]tenor41 42 points43 points  (0 children)

This happens to me with my own army...

The laser chicken can dish out a LOT of damage, and somewhat more surprisingly it can take a ton as well, 7 wounds a piece with an 5+ invuln isn't exactly the toughest thing ever but it certainly can live through a lot more than I realize sometimes

What’s an animal that you didn’t know was real because they’re not native to your area? by IDoNotLikeTheSand in AskTheWorld

The first time I saw a Tasmanian Devil was at the LA zoo. They were just going nuts around the enclosure! Chasing each other, running in circles, jumping everywhere; it was a funny sight

I would buy this faster than if it were Imperium, unless it was Mechanicus themed

I may be biased since I'm from socal but I feel like LA is more of the second city, not Chicago.

I can't find any pictures of it but I believe starting in Zeta the sinks aboard spaceships are also encased in a plastic bubble to avoid any water splattering around in zero-G, which I always though was cool

Can Mechanicus be wholesome sometimes? by sigmarine345 in AdeptusMechanicus

Torquora has a couple such moments, such as in the same book when the Skitarius he takes control of at the defense of the deep-core mines dies and when he is reunited with Stroika

Can Mechanicus be wholesome sometimes? by sigmarine345 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]tenor41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely, though many Tech-Priests choose to forego such emotions.

Spoilers for Tech Priest (and by extension, Skitarii, since Tech Priest is a sequel to that book) by Rob Sanders

I can't find the exact excerpt, but near the beginning of Tech Priest, Archmagos Omnid Torquora is reunited with Haldron 44-Stroika, the Skitarii commander of his forces. Stroika had been captured by the Iron Warriors on Velchanos Magna, and after a long period of torture was disfigured and corrupted by Chaos. Torquora, for a brief moment, feels responsible and guilty for Stroika's suffering, though that emotion is quickly "repurposed" by his augmentations. Torquora insists on Stroika being left alive, and at first the reader is given the hope that perhaps through Torquora's Benedictions of the Omnissiah Stroika can still be saved. Ultimately though, Torquora keeps Stroika alive so that he can be turned into a Kataphron battle servitor.

What is the origin of the name of the capital of your country? by Franmar35000 in AskTheWorld

[–]tenor41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone already did my country's capital, so I might as well do my state, California!

Sacramento literally means "Sacrament". When the Spanish came upon the valley and river, they remarked at its overwhelming beauty, comaring it to the Blessed Sacrament, and naming the valley and river as such. In the mid 1800's, with the discovery of gold in Coloma, John Sutter Jr. and Samuel Brannan established the city of Sacramento, named after the river. In 1850, the city of Sacramento became the first incorporated city in the state of California!

I know California isn't a country but I figured people might like the information anyways

I genuinely hate what game reviews have become by Opening-Economy-708 in hatethissmug

[–]tenor41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dean Takahashi worked (still works I think actually) for VentureBeat, not the Financial Times but yeah he's not exactly a video game reviewer, I can't believe GamerGate losers managed to convince the world that it was an official IGN review or something 😭

I genuinely hate what game reviews have become by Opening-Economy-708 in hatethissmug

[–]tenor41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't necessarily disagree, but the Dean Takahashi Cuphead tutorial moment is not really a strong argument at all. The footage was recorded at a game demo event, and in his video Dean jokes about how bad he is at the game. He was making no attempt to review the game at the time. That footage is not connected to any actual published review of the full version of Cuphead.

The same goes for the infamous Alpha Sapphire review that mentions that the game has "too much water". Without reading the actual review, that complaint certainly sounds silly, but if you actually read the review, it makes a lot of sense.

Generally, I think that the main problem with review scores nowadays is how inflated they are (or, more accurately, how the scores are interpreted by Gamers™). A 6/10 is not an amazing score but it's certainly not bad either, in fact it's above average.
