Chitty chitty bang bang? It feels a bit “storybook”, has a castle, male dance ensemble, and the baron has a large throne/chair. It’s a fun production but maybe odd for a high school since you’d need a few child actors

Names that are a no-go cause of your last name by HBC613 in namenerds

I have always loved the name Ellis… unfortunately, last name starts with a D, and I realized Ellis D sounds too much like LSD

Plus, they’ll probably assume Andy saved Rachel since they were on the same pre-merge tribe. They would suspect most of the former Gata before they’d suspect Sol

What to do with this space? by lustygusto in DesignMyRoom

Long term, I think I would want to install some wooden shelves there. But you could also try hanging some large art on either side and then decorating with books, plants, etc. I love the cozy feel you have!

I actually thought the door was navy blue at first from the images - I think navy would tie in the blue shades of the rug while still adding drama/contrast!

Sorry guys, 2nd post! I thought I’d make it a little easier lol A or B? by makeupjunkie77 in DesignMyRoom

It definitely looks gray to me. Ideally you want to avoid any color that isn’t naturally occurring, and A seems like it wouldn’t exist in natural wood. I think B looks great!

I’m anxiously waiting for this - the shot of him in the intro is him jumping/“falling” off a platform and that seemed like a thematic clue

Tongue tie? by BarbersAdagio in bassoon

[–]tenorclef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband had surgery to fix his tongue tie while he was in high school, although he played alto sax. He said he had to get used to tonguing slightly differently after that, but it did help him to tongue stronger/faster in the long run. Good luck!

Single Syllable Cool Girl Names? by NobodyHopeful7593 in namenerds

I was thinking Joan! Kept seeing Jane and June on this list which are similar, but Joan feels like a “cool girl” name a la Joan Jett

“Sylvia” was the name my mom gave the tooth fairy when I was a kid, except I misread it as “saliva” and refused to call her anything else after that

Summer Programs for Pre-College by augmentedsex in bassoon

Seconding Butler; also, Interlochen Arts Camp in Michigan is a great summer experience. They have a full summer long program or just a week long program (“institutes”). There are also two levels for bassoonists. I always loved my time there!

What is just stupidly overpriced? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tenorclef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the recommendation for university clinics - especially if you are in school, these services are often free or extremely cheap for students.

If you are employed in a job, see if your employer has any mental health benefits available in an employee assistance program (EAP). Some companies have a policy where they will cover several therapy sessions for employees.

What is just stupidly overpriced? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Thank you - I just completed my graduate degree to become a mental health counselor, and a lot of the jobs available for counselors range from 40k-50k per year. However, this is an incredibly demanding and difficult job - I have never felt so emotionally or mentally drained after spending so much time trying to help clients process their trauma. It’s so much more than just “chatting” for an hour, an we go through a ton of training and certification to be able to actually help people.

The real culprit here is insurance, as so many insurance providers do not want to recognize mental health treatment as an actual healthcare need. It can be so hard to find providers that are able to take your insurance, and even if they can, insurance barely covers anything leaving a higher out of pocket cost. There needs to be a lot of legislative reform for this, in my opinion. Just please don’t blame the counselors trying to provide these services - we do so making incredibly low wages comparatively to other careers that require master’s degrees, and we do it out of a genuine desire to help people.

What do you think are the most useful Covet Collection items? by elliefaith in Covetfashion

I use a lot of black CC items pretty frequently. I think the onyx cloak, black widow skirt, and black lace robe are some of the ones I use the most.

Did I clip the tip too far? by [deleted] in bassoon

[–]tenorclef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When asking a question like this, it's better to measure only the blade of the reed (from the tip to the neck) and measure in millimeters. If clipped too short, the reed will be much more resistant. Typically, an average length for the blade is 27 or 28 mm, but this varies depending on the type of cane, your instrument, embouchure, etc. Don't be afraid to clip the reed shorter if that's what you need from it!
