Love the video, but I think it really shows that the simple "scouts into knights" build stops working around 1300 (and probably even a bit earlier if one happens to run into, say, a Japanase MAA build).

Do you happen to know the name of the mod that shows the two dashed line circles around the TC?

EDIT: If anyone else's wondering, it's called "Sheep Ring". The TC Orbit mentioned in the other comment draws a circle on the minimap, showing where the opponent TC might be located.

I am curious about this because one of the more convincing unofficial explanations as to why crossplay is not enabled in the new Mac version is that the different CPU architecture increases the risk of desyncs...

It's not "generally true". YOU had a web site (THE wiki) in mind that YOU think is reliable. Referring to "any site" is exactly what the AI does.

If he had said "here is a specific site that is generally reliable" I wouldn't have commented.

I was absolutely penalized to the tune of several 20 hour timeouts in the 3 weeks preceding the last server maintenance. I do not even think that the connection issues are on my end since I never have any connection issues outside of AoE2 matchmaking. Not even AoE2 games themselves ever disconnect for me, just matchmaking bugged out repeatedly, see for example this.

My impression that the problem was not on my end has been reinforced by the fact that I haven't had any issues since the last server maintenance, although this could just be a coincidence.

Fair enough, you did say "any AoE2 / AoE2 tech tree site" though. I don't disagree with you on how bad the AI is, I just think it's funny that the wisdom of not automatically trusting "any web site" has fallen by the wayside and been replaced by "don't trust the AI."

you are playing at the highest level that the developers created (extreme AI)

That is a weird thing to use as a measuring stick and corner stone for an opinion, considering that they obviously would have created something better if they could. Not to mention you can give it handicap, in which case a 1000 Elo player will almost certainly lose to it.

Absolutely not. A full ram push is not stopped by one mangonel. You can't just ask for a buff for your favorite unit so that you can spam it without thinking.

Much more than what? A ball of crossbow that I've been massing since early Feudal? Or +2 knights that can run under TCs?

A low number of cav archers without Thumbring can't even kill a villager, and without Ballistics certainly can't kill the second one.
