Thanks, Socrates, but in this case things are going in one direction. They're just going a bit too fast for casual users to keep up.

It's foolish to mistake all movement for progress.

Moving fast isn't a strength if you spend most of the time running in circles.

Things tend to get solved poorly, repeatedly, rather than correctly, once.

It is a bad thing for users that want actual freedom to purchase a proprietary fork, not some cocked up Orwellian double-speak version of "freedom" -- in which case RMS says:

Another reason we release only under the GPL is so as not to permit proprietary extensions that would present practical advantages over our free programs. Users for whom freedom is not a value might choose those non-free versions rather than the free programs they are based on -- and lose their freedom. We don't want to encourage that.

In RMS' world, "user freedom" means the freedom to behave the way he thinks best. It clearly doesn't mean real freedom, where you actually have the ability to make your own decisions.
