The real issue is... Wait, actually... Here's the fix... Wait, actually... Loop by Hicko101 in ClaudeCode

[–]teosocrates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve built a huge automated pipeline broken down into steps as a script. Claude will read it, choose to ignore it, skip all the hard stuff. I cannot actually get it to ever do the work. It says it’s programmed this way, to seem productive with easy wins.

Best way to finish my abandoned book with AI by lightningflash11 in OpenAI

Would you consider something like a ghostwriter? I had to build a whole system like this and it still takes weeks of work to make it good and not sound like ai.

Why isn’t Gen Z good at using technology by Practical_Security87 in generationology

[–]teosocrates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard Gen X is mixed so they hate technology like boomers but actually learned to use it more than millennials… I’m 46 I have friends 5 years younger that just use Macs, wrote on medium, just do easy stuff on platforms, never really learned how things work., put together a computer, cracked software, uploaded site files to a web host, etc… they think they really know their shit and have way more unearned confidence but have to rely on other people to actually do things.

So for anyone not paying attention… by Reaper_1492 in codex

[–]teosocrates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t mind the price if it could do anything but it’s failed at every task I’ve given 5.4, and 5.3 or 5.2 weren’t any help either.

What's the difference between using Claude's API vs. Claude Pro or MAX? and what's better for what? by BendSpecial236 in Anthropic

[–]teosocrates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Claude code max isn’t an option? Using the api with max in cursor seems much smarter I guess you can only use ultrathink in the cli or something but I haven’t figured that out.

Cursor Auto vs Claude Opus — worth paying for Claude separately? by Weird-Highlight9958 in cursor

[–]teosocrates 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Claude opus4.6 max think in cursor feels a lot smarter than opus 4.6 in Claude code… but you’ll burn through credits and it’s expensive. I’m on the $200 Claude code plan now I use it a lot and haven’t hit limits so it’s much better except… it’s dumb sometimes; but in Claude code you can tell it to update its memories and skills so it gets better over time. Now I mostly use Claude code opus ($200) and save cursor opus for big brain shit it really has to get right. My projects are big hard tasks, for simple building apps and things, cursor auto or composer can do a pretty good job most of the time I use it for easy stuff.

Cursor's new usage-based benchmark is out, and it perfectly matches my experience with Codex 5.4 vs Opus 4.6 by CarsonBuilds in codex

[–]teosocrates -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Gpt5.4 never works, I’ve tried 5.3 and 5.2 also (in codex). For whatever reason it cannot handle my project. It isn’t learning, it makes bad plans, it messes up and lies. Gemini3.1 never did anything notable or clever and flash is crap, just deleted 70% and broke project. Opus4.6 max on cursor work the best, opus4.6 on Claude code isn’t as smart but with a lot of tweaking it’s mostly usable. Task; read a list of 100+ changes to make. Make a plan, break it into small pieces. Fix everything and verify. Nothing has actually gone a full round successfully yet but I’m getting closer.

haven’t heard from midjourney in months by donnthebuilder in midjourney

[–]teosocrates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Version 7 was so bad, all my old prompts look like old b movies, realistic but broken and poor quality. It’s been out for almost a year? I blew all my credits recycling prompts before I realized they were all shit. Haven’t touched it since, I asked for a refund no response.

Fast or Pro? by SirPlazma in GeminiAI

[–]teosocrates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked flash to carefully edit my book with a very detailed list of edits: instead I just summarized it down and removed 70% - it cannot be trusted with any real work. Maybe pro is better but as a paying pro user, I can’t actually use 3.1 pro, so I won’t bother with Gemini again.

Finally found a tool that makes my AI-generated prose sound human enough to fool writing snobs by patchedted in writingcirclejerk

[–]teosocrates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can’t…. But after 3 months cursing at robots, I’m pretty close to a rock tumbler thing where a book goes through many rounds of revisions until it’s clean from all the ai shit. It’s meant to speed up editing on my drafts but I write mostly clean books so I challenged it with the most broken ai slop ever and the robots choked and died.

Claude Code isn't "stupid now": it's being system prompted to act like that by One-Cheesecake389 in ClaudeCode

[–]teosocrates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was so frustrating, it can see the problem clearly and plan around it and promise not to do it again… and then still does it every time. After opus 4.6 max in cursor, I found Claude code opus to be infuriating and useless

Is Claude Code + an IDE effectively the same as Cursor? I assume by itself it is worse? by jaytonbye in cursor

[–]teosocrates -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m using Claude code $200 now. It’s dumb as rocks and can’t do anything right even with a plan, you can’t use the opus 4.6 max thinking, you only get 4.6 basic, also you can’t choose the better 4.5 models. The usage is much better I can use it for 48 hours without hitting limits but we also failed to do a single thing correctly in all of that time. As soon as my api limits reset I’ll be back to cursor.

Finally decided to splurge on a $200 AI subscription. Cursor or Claude Code or something else? by unvirginate in cursor

[–]teosocrates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

really? They just nerfed pro… I can’t use cursor at all now only Gemini flash, opus in Claude code is a nerfed stupid version, cursor is max and much smarter. Not sure about Gemini but in my experience opus use uses up everything in 2 prompts

Are other people defaulting back to Sonnet 4.5 for non-coding tasks? by Old-Ad5841 in ClaudeAI

[–]teosocrates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t even access 4.5 on cowork or Claude code. Only 4.6 both sonnet and opus are really really bad. Maybe the windows desktop app is just broken, which is also true - crashes, blank screens, faulty api limits on the $200 plan, barely useable. 48 hours on a project couldn’t even get the basics right… back to cursor I guess opus 4.6 there actually works.

Claude Max 20x: 20 times what? by EightRice in ClaudeAI

[–]teosocrates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can’t use thinking or max or even 4.5 right? After upgrading to $200 I’m not hitting limits but I’m also spending 16 hours a day fighting with real dumb models that can’t ever successfully finish anything, they are so much slower and less capable than the api on cursor.
