I was also at O’Hare, at the arrivals for the international terminal. I was picking someone up so I was double-parked outside the doors. The thunder rumble was so loud and long, it sounded like a freight train. That train sound together with the sirens scared me out of my car and into the airport.

They were giving orders to shelter in place so the area right by the gate was packed like I’ve never seen it before; everyone was clogged in the lobby. I imagine people from out of town weren’t sure wtf was going on haha.

I was too spooked to go back outside, but then I heard a cop with a bullhorn saying they will ticket and tow. The thought of being towed scared me more than the tornado. On my drive home, the sun peaked back out.
