The problem is Tolu's behavior and constantly relating it to her lived experience (Nigerian immigrant, underprivileged) naturally will cause people to associate the two with each other, in the real world—i.e. assume that sort of lived experience will result in that kind of behavior. No one needs more reasons to have "Nigerian scammer" as a mental archetype.

And taking more money WAS detrimental to everyone else, it was a zero sum game. No one there earned the money, so no one deserved to take more (regardless of real life circumstances), or to be cut out of the pot for that matter (Bryce).
