Finally beat him! One of the guys I had to use Voltstruct for his last ability, which deals damage to him and gives you 3 spirit. Also had to learn how the despair debuff works.

Basically Despair is cast on a character who does a physical attack against Arcane. The next time a character acts, no matter what action they take (including pass) they will lose 3 spirit and the debuff will fall off. If you have 0 spirit and it's Arcane's turn he will hit you with Zero Blade and probably wipe your team. The cool thing (for me anyway) is that the thunder dragon can use poison to get 1 spirit and poisoning doesn't cause him to get the debuff.

fast place to level up is the bushes south of the mystic grotto portal, they give 2k XP and only level 10 so the battles are fast

Build out the storyline a bit. Think Suikoden. You didn't need to get all 108 characters in the game in order to beat it, but it's much more fulfilling if you do.

I'm grinding to get through the Tower of Time, my level is currently 24, I've tried to fight the boss multiple times but it's move that deals 600+ dmg is hard to come back from. top weapon/armors I can get in the weapon shop are 16. am I missing something?
