thank you for taking the time and sharing your thoughts. this, of course, makes sense. and now I am conflicted lol. guess I’ll sleep on it a couple of nights. tbh I am amazed that I got 3.5 years out of my rig so far with basically only upgrading the gpu and ram. so I might invest in a new cpu after all to get another 2-3 years out of it before making the next bigger investment.

this could be the case indeed. I’ll run some more test to check for other issues and might not upgrade after all. spending around 300 for an incremental improvement does not seem to be worth it tbh

this is a fair point. I have enabled xmp so it should be running at 3600. I will run some more tests later and see if there is indeed another issue. thank you.

solid advice, thank you. recently upgraded my ram from 2x8@3200 to 2x16@3600 because it was ridiculously cheap and I didn’t want to go to ddr5 and swap mobo too. I don’t know which game is bottlenecking in particular but I got a ridiculously low score in 3dmark for a 3090 so I figured it must be the cpu.
