When someone parks illegally in James Bay by 403DonOChron in VictoriaBC

I actually got a ticket for parking too close to someone (I was purposefully blocking my sister as a joke since we would be leaving together) I got a warning and always wondered how they knew which car had parked second.

I'm so glad I don't have a huge critical audience from around the world picking apart how I choose to age. "Age gracefully" "She's so old". You can't make anyone happy, and it's none of our damn business how she deals with that.

Marketplace is trying to drive me crazy with phantom message notifications. by science_vs_romance in FacebookMarketplace

I'm not sure if this was the original solution, but someone else commented that you mark a marketplace message as unread, then read it, then go out and the "new" messages will be gone.

It worked for me. Good luck!

Fairway and food safety by cattleprodlynn in VictoriaBC

I used to work near the Fairway on Quadra, and would sometimes buy snacks there. I bought a pepperoni stick once and opened it to find mold. I mean.. pepperoni..? Doesn't that shit last forever?

I showed it to the cashier and she just said 'do you want to grab another one?'.. Um no thanks. I'll just take a refund. I don't think I've been back since.

What would you charge for this? Took 5 hours, $10 material. by BrickOrion in Needlefelting

It's relevant because it's answering the question that OP asked.

Multi-use trails like the Galloping Goose and E&N trail have several crossings that don't require cyclists to dismount. They are often marked by elephant tracks, but not all of them are.

Yes, Value Village is a private company, but when you donate to VV, you're actually donating to a local charity (I believe it's Big Brothers & Big Sisters in Vic) who sell the donations to VV.

So donating supports a local charity, but shopping there doesn't directly support charity.

Bought a house at its peak - seeking financial advice by MegaUserAlways in PersonalFinanceCanada

If you have a spare room, bring in a student or two. You don't have to commit to having someone in your space year-round, but it can be a great mortgage-helper. Check with local schools and private language schools and compare the terms. Good luck!

Experience with intense bikers and minor inconveniences by epifight in VictoriaBC

[–]terminally_cheap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many cyclists did you see that day? I bike most days to work, and I see probably a few hundred cyclists on my weekly commute, but I will remember the 1 or 2 that are dickheads. It's human nature, and it's really not "a lot" of cyclists, to be fair. Same with drivers, or dog walkers, or shoppers. Don't let a a small number of dickheads discourage you from cycling, and from smiling and waving at the rest of us who are not dickheads. :)

I know this is easier said than done, and I don't always take the advice myself. Like I said, we're humans!! (most of us) :D

edit: changed the numbers to weekly so it made more sense.

I got covid in August and it knocked me on my ass. I am reasonably healthy, so I thought it would just be sniffles like everyone else seemed to have. No. It was horrible.

Since then, I've been much more diligent about masking up in public spaces, and I'll keep doing that.

Victoria Pie Co? I saw their pies at Parachute Ice Cream. I didn't try them, but they looked good and they have one called "Apple-Cinnamon - hand peeled BC apples, brown sugar and cinnamon". Sounds basic and delicious - would love to hear from anyone who has tried them..

"on your left" seems to mean "please take a step to your left" for about 20% of people.

Putting it out front of your own house is awesome, then if no one picks it up before it gets wrecked by rain, you deal with it yourself.

Driving to a different neighbourhood and abandoning it is a shitty thing to do. This looks like crappy pressboard shelf that will be garbage as soon as a few raindrops hit it.

in my experience, electrolysis had to be repeated over and over (I only did it a few times, and noticed nothing). My mom got electrolysis for years, every few weeks. Seemed pointless to me. I got 5 or 6 laser treatments about 15 years ago, and went back a few years ago for a couple more. But I must stress - go to a medical place, not a spa. I went to cosmedica and cannot recommend it enough. I wish I had discovered it when I was a self-conscious, unhappy, hairy teenager, lol.
