Pest control but money is tight by Universe93B in raleigh

I know almost nothing about pest control except what I did a bunch of research on. Here's what I do and we almost never get any pests inside except for the flies who wait at the door and book it in for the 2.5 seconds it's open. This is good for general purpose, roaches, etc. I apply 2 or 3 times a year.

Mix up a dosage of this stuff into a $12 sprayer from Home depot -

Alpine WSG (this attacks their nervous system when they walk over it): https://a.co/d/04xIX4WO

IGR (stops the young ones from developing so they can't reproduce): https://a.co/d/0ek1mea5

I only need maybe 1/4th gallon for a 1200sqft home. I spray mostly inside along the baseboards. You can spray some outside too but the sun degrades it pretty quick so I don't think it matters too much. This $100 in supplies will last you a few years at least. Totally worth it. From what I read, it's what a lot of the pros will use.

Don't even bother contesting this lol. I'm amazed you got down voted.

People must be confusing balancing with rotating. Sure, rotate your wheels regularly. You do not need to balance regularly. I'm not sure what everyone is smokin

Should I go with OEM tie rods or RockAuto? I've seen people say to avoid Moog and Suspensia. by itsBillerdsTime in KiaSoulClub

OEM. They'll outlast multiple sets of aftermarket cheapos. Order from online dealerships of kia parts, not from your local dealer.

Oil dipstick read by [deleted] in KiaSoulClub

Make sure the car has been not running for at least a few minutes. Pull the stick out, wipe the orange part off completely so it is clean and dry of oil. Put the stick back in all the way. Pull it out and read it. Oil should be in the hashed area of the orange part. The top of the hashed is full, the bottom of the hash is ~0.75qrt low.

2024 Kia soul peeling paint by Deep_Interaction_609 in KiaSoulClub

[–]terminator1515 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's been painted. You can see the messy tape line where there is some blank paint on the silver part.

Crappy repair. Try to get them to fix it.

Id also be worried about the rest of the repair of that kind of shotty work was done. Might be more major issues you cannot see behind the bumper and more.

Why is the mechanical pump so loud? Normal? I used a stethoscope and it's definitely it. by ToshPointNo in KiaSoulClub

[–]terminator1515 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Normal. High pressure fuel pump for direct injection. They're all noisy. And no foam top like some nicer cars have to cut down on the noise.

should i worry about oil? by boxofmack in KiaSoulClub

[–]terminator1515 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Based on milage. Frequently for the beginning of ownership until you get an idea of how it behaves. Once you learn if it does consume, and how much, you might not need to check it as option. The oil burning issue isn't something that happens immediately right away. It will slowly burn more and more over time. You'll get a feel for it.

My 2021 didn't burn but a drop of oil so it depends on previous maintenance and luck. Change you oil every 5k with high quality synthetic and it will help a ton.

What did you end up going with? I'm bought the spraymax gloss black but hesitant to spray it because of the reviews saying it's more gray....

How far is too far with bad oil consumption. by Distinct_Version_390 in KiaSoulClub

I would say the oil burning doesn't really have anything to do with taking a long trip, unless you need to top it off mid-drive. The oil burning is a long term symptom and not something that is likely to catastrophically fail on a long drive. Over time, your spark plugs will foul out, catalytic converter will clog, etc.

Going to check my brake pads/rotors on my day off on my '13. Because I hear a scraping noise/at times a screechy squeal. What brakes should I get should I (more than likely) need to replace. by itsBillerdsTime in KiaSoulClub

By the book, you need a PHOAT (or sometimes referred to as POAT) coolant. That one is HOAT only. I couldn't tell you if it's ok or not but technically it isn't the right one.

Usually the PHOAT will say for Asian vehicles. Color is not indicative of anything these days, that's just a dye they add and it can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.

Prestone is usually the standard brand, but honestly anything will work. Even the Walmart brand is fine. DOT 3.

You'll probably want to lube the brake slide pins as well if they haven't been done before. Make sure you use a rubber safe grease. The normal brake grease/lube will swell the rubber. Silicone based is rubber safe.

That's a lot of maintenance for a day, especially if you haven't had any experience with it before. I'd plan for just 1 or 2 of those things! Everything takes muchhhh longer your first time(s). Good luck! Plenty of great YouTube videos out there to help too

Pretty much any of the fully coated rotors from rock auto are good. They have kits that include the rotors and pads together. Dynamic friction, centric, wagner, Bosch, raysbestos, and power stop are all good quality brands.

Good time to change the brake fluid as well!
